That's basically what McCain has to say in order for me to have any respect for him as a human being.

without saying the words.

9. And then he said...
"I don't want you to think I don't appreciate your FEROCITY."

That was typical double-speak. He's basically saying, "Yeah, you are wrong, but I don't mind if you continue using those wrong beliefs as fuel to attack Obama."

12. Stop defending him: NO HE DIDN'T. He saved his own ass after his smear and fear tactics backfired.
DUers need to stop defending him.

2. "And in an election night shocker, Senator John McCain has received
less than 1% of the popular vote. Barack Obama managed to win every state in the Union and some states that aren't in it."

5. Some actions cannot be undone by any means.
Stoking the least intelligent to the worst of emotions is one of those things. I hate to have Godwin's Law invoked on me but the only difference between mcRacist's rallies and Hitler's is that of scale. If the polls had shown that the message of hate was working mcRacist's would have soon been every bit as large and destructive.

If anyone disagrees with that then please explain why.

6. Thanks to SARAH!
we are on the verge of fighting the civil war allover again. Maybe not with the guns and bloodshed of that time but a civil war none the less.

She is playing and igniting reptilian fears in people. She is not appealing to the best of humanity but the worst. Those who fear what is 'different'. These people feel their fears and irrational hatred are being validated by a high profile VP candiate who looks and talks just like them. And she's important! She's a VP candidate! How much more validation of your hate do you need???

We could be heading into dangerous waters. I don't know if McCain has the strength or the will to cool this down.

7. He needs to INSIST that she dial back her attacks.
He's at the top of the ticket. He can tell her to stuff a sock in it, and that's exactly what he needs to do.

13. He needs to dump her.
It's really the only way he can redeem himself. But he won't. He should have gone with his own gut instinct and picked Ridge or Pawlenty or even Lieberman. But he let the fear monger assholes tall him what to do and now he has to live with the consequences.

Bummer, that.

10. The ad implying Obama was a pedophile
pretty much assured that I would never have respect for him as a human being.

11. I think he only did what he did because his tactic was actually backfiring too much.
I imagine that if his poll numbers were actually going up his answer today would have been very different.
