Edited on Fri Oct-10-08 08:07 PM by steve2470
Just curious, Alaskans what do you think ?

on edit: info about Alaskan impeachment here, from the Alaska Constitution:
http://ltgov.state.ak.us/constitution.php?section=2

§ 20. Impeachment

All civil officers of the State are subject to impeachment by the legislature. Impeachment shall originate in the senate and must be approved by a two-thirds vote of its members. The motion for impeachment shall list fully the basis for the proceeding. Trial on impeachment shall be conducted by the house of representatives. A supreme court justice designated by the court shall preside at the trial. Concurrence of two-thirds of the members of the house is required for a judgment of impeachment. The judgment may not extend beyond removal from office, but shall not prevent proceedings in the courts on the same or related charges.

info about recall in the AK Constitution:
http://ltgov.state.ak.us/constitution.php?section=11

§ 8. Recall

All elected public officials in the State, except judicial officers, are subject to recall by the voters of the State or political subdivision from which elected. Procedures and grounds for recall shall be prescribed by the legislature.

14. The committee voted unanimously
to make the report public. I heard that and realized that perhaps the folks in AK are more pissed than I thought about all of this. I smell blood in the water. I know I'm 2,000 miles away, but that was a pretty strong signal to me that there's more shit fan-bound.

8. the Trooper is gonna make some new lawyer friends, i suspect...
She violated state law to go after him.

She slandered him on national TV around this case.

And... 2 years ago... the judge in the custody case between her sister and this guy... explicitly told the Palins to back off and stop talking about the troop. The judge suggested it had reached the point of almost being "child abuse" (her words).

If that custody battle is still going, that judge is just WAITING to get her hands on Sarah Palin and is likely reading this report very carefully right this moment.

5. They will wait until after the election to begin proceedings.
If they started before the election there would be problems between the State Party and the RNC. The RNC would blame the Alaska Republican Party of causing McCain to lose the election if they started proceedings before the election.

9. Fine with me, I want her GONE, COMPLETELY.....
.... I do NOT want to have to see that woman again in 2012.

(this whole thing may have given me enough courage and may have healed my wounds enough to let me watch her RNC speech again, something I've been wanting to do, but haven't recovered enough to do so yet.)

13. I seriously doubt she will be back. She is damaged goods.
The Alaska Republican Party will probably boot her out of the party under the reasoning that her alliance is with the Alaskan Independence Party.

10. Impeachment or Recall - Recall is much more likely
I believe it will happen and there's a good chance it will succeed. Just look at her internal numbers in Alaska and the fact that the commission that released these findings was 10 Republican/4 Democrat.

11. Nope. This is mild by Alaskan standards.
What it will do is weaken her substantially when Sarrah Barracuda goes back to Wasilla. They are a cut throat lot up there, expect her to be in a nasty primary in two years and lose to some new "uncorrupt Republican". You guys in the lower 48 have no idea what politics up here is like.
