1.4 million voters in Texas? Is there a chance?
Is there a chance that bush pissed off enough voters in Texas to cover the 1.4 million he got in 2000?
That would be the funniest thing I have ever seen. I know it's a long shot, but then again...I know that not everyone loves that shithead down there.

2. I think this election is going to be so very different from any other
I think we should expect the largest turnout in history. I have a feeling these polls are measuring something completely different than what we will end up seeing on election day. I just doubt there are gonna be all that many newly registered voters who are registering because they want to vote for Bush. The vast majority of the new voters are registering in order to vote against Bush and for Kerry. Add to that the people who voted for Bush last time but who think he's a total fuck-up and are planning on either voting for Kerry next time or not voting at all and I think we could have a Kerry landslide!

So, I think that anything could be possible come November. Hey, maybe even a Kerry win in Texas!!!

:toast:

5. You are absolutely correct
I have heard from people I know personally who voted for bush and are switching to Kerry. I have heard people registering just to vote for Kerry. In my 5 elections that I have been eligible for, this one seems to be the strangest one.
I even have staunch repubs telling me "This one is going to be close". I don't know where these "polls" are coming from, but they go against everything I am witnessing.

4. I don't know about Texas

But I completely agree with Hootie.

Kerry will win in a landslide because of people motivated to get Bush out of office.

After November 2nd tv and radio will be flooded with "How did everyone (the pollsters) get it SO wrong?"

6. I don't think it's likely, but I would proceed under the assumption that
it is possible. I mean it's not so long ago that there was a Dem governor here. Lot of water under the bridge since then, but this "Republican moment" is not engraved in stone.

7. There is alot of different objectives here in Texas.
Your very right, many do not like this pretender, many believe he is not even one of them, the news hypes him up, he was born after all in that dreaded kennedy state Mass, he only bought his ranch before the election, he has spent more time out of state than in it and has failed at any and every Texas endeavor he had been forced to pretend he might be able to handle...

Yes we have our religious fanatics, but many are not exactly doing great economically, even if they snuck a vote for kerry at the polls so their cotemporaries would not find out about it and call them satan lovers, he still will get thier votes...

Its a given, so many people are pretty self serving and not everyone is in the oil business though I am and I know many who are and who are openly voting Kerry as I am....

They might hide they are voting for him but with a little push, they will do just that, as long as no one else knows;-)

9. It just wasn't a landslide in 2000
It was a pretty big marginal, but not as much as you would imagine.
3,799,639 shrub
2,433,746 Gore

OK, maybe that is a wide gap, but if it closes tighter, that would say something.
