Will the Big Dog's condition affect the election?
Just speculation on my part but I remember 1994 when Reagan was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. The Repugs went on to take over congress that year. Do you think Clinton having heart surgery might motivate the Democrartic base even more?

1. I don't think the base could get any more motivated
The question is will it affect swing voters. I doubt it will and I don't think Reagan having Alzimers affected that election. I don't think that voters are sentimental when they get in the voter's booth. They are most likely thinking about the issues or issue that brought them there.

2. Why bring this up?....
Please, we're not sadistic like the GOP. This is Kerry's campaign, not Clinton's. Silly.

4. The upside: It has kept Bush's "wonderful" speech off the news...
... the downside is that it will take a lot of time away from him campaigning for Kerry.

I hope he gets well enough to campaign for Kerry
like he was planning to.

this plus Hurricane Frances sure have knocked Bush's convention speech and subsequent campaign coverage down to very little right now on cable. Clinton's bypass and Frances may well have the effect of dampening any Bush bounce for lack of top of the hour coverage of Bush.
