Donna Brazile Is Not Going To The Back Of The Bus. Ever Again.

I implore each of you to please take four minutes and watch this video of Donna Brazile speaking last Saturday at the New Yorker Forum titled "If I Were Running The Campaign." The issue of race in this campaign came up, and Donna addressed the matter with the kind of eloquence and inspiration that will lift you up and carry us across the finish line of this historic race.

It will bring tears to your eyes. They are rolling down my face as I type this now.

She begs of us... let these remaining days of the campaign be about inspiration, and ideas, and strength of character. We may never feel like this again, and we should cherish these moments. We should celebrate, together as a nation, how far we have come, how much we have achieved, with the historic candidacy of Barack Obama. Do not go to the ugly, dark side that Sarah Palin and others are trying to lead us to. Move toward the light.

18. Electing Obama is going to have an added bonus for all of us

Children like my grandson in the my sig line are going to grow up and actually believe they can be anything they want to be.

White people who weren't 'so sure' about blacks, but not necessarily hateful, will start to get it a bit more.

The hard core hateful racists will never get it, but in general we will finally be able to start taking some more steps in this fight. We've still got a long way to go, but this will help head us in the right direction.

Given how wonderful Brazile can be, she still owes us an explanation for Gore/2000. Sorry, but people are people and facts are facts, and some mistakes you never stop paying for.

I've sent it along to friends. Very powerful.

I know there's a lot of criticism here of Brazile, but do you know what she spent many years doing? Organizing college campuses. Living in crappy, cheap apartments and making almost no money while she worked like hell to get young people involved in the political system. This election, I suspect, means more than the first African-American president to her - it's the culmination of her hard work dating back to her 20's to see the kind of passion and involvement of young people in this campaign. On election night, if Obama wins, Donna Brazile is going to be one of the first persons I think of - because she's done more than I (or many of her detractors) have ever done to make such a night possible.
