Breaking their spirits

NRO's Mark Steyn gets email:

Well I have gone outside and pulled up my Mcain/Palin sign. This election is over. I will vote for Mcain but I know that come Nov. 5 Obama will be our president-elect.

I feel sorry for Sarah Palin. A once promising career will be permanently connected to the landside loss of John McCain.
I weep for my children and their families.

If the lack of hate mail in recent days is any indication, their spirit really is broken. Now's the time for us to press the advantage and crush their movement for a generation or more.

The question isn't whether we get complacent. No one around these parts is getting complacent. The question is whether we take full advantage of what is shaping up to be a rout and truly press our advantage. Our enemy is on the retreat. We can't let them get away and regroup. It's time to crush them. Throw those anvils and make more Republicans "weep".

Reality is a Left-Wing Attack Ad

JB

One has to feel sorry for John McCain. He had a pre-packaged jingoistic presidential campaign he wanted to run and now he can't run it because the economy is dominating everything and the Republicans are getting most of the blame for the country's current economic condition. He had a series of focus-group tested Rove-style attacks on Obama that in an ordinary year would have scared the daylights out of the median voter, but sadly most voters currently think that a major economic meltdown is more worrisome than who Obama knows in Hyde Park. Over at the Corner Andy McCarthy is fit to be tied:

Memo to McCain Campaign: Someone is either a terrorist sympathizer or he isn't; someone is either disqualified as a terrorist sympathizer or he's qualified for public office. You helped portray Obama as a clearly qualified presidential candidate who would fight terrorists. If that's what the public thinks, good luck trying to win this thing.

How dare the public be more concerned about the current economic crisis than our allegations that Obama is a strange, nefarious, alien Other? How dare they yawn at the Karl Rove/Lee Atwater strategy that has successfully frightened the public over and over again and made Republicans the majority party? How dare they pay attention to actual conditions and real problems instead of the bright shiny objects we attempt to distract them with?

The world is not a fair place. It's just not a fair place.

Only when conservatives are in power. The problem isn't so much reality, but what republicans like to do to it.

11. Smart move on leaving out the "rape the Women " part
for 2 reasons, 1) no liberal would want to have consensual sex with a conservative woman let alone trying to rape one of those harpies, 2) rape describes marriage sex between conservative males and females, they only mate with wives to procreate, sex for love for conservative males is normally found in some mens room at the air port or city park.

3. It's not in me to deliberately make them cry or hurt them (though I have been angry enough to want
to do that). It's about time someone led by example. They need to be taught how to care about all people and I think we're all about to get a lesson in the best way to do that. President Obama won't kick them to the curb, and it will be nice to be able to talk to republicans again without cringing as I'm sure his leadership will prove to them once and for all, Liberal and Left are not dirty words...

4. Wow. The email to Mark Steyn I read as an exact post on FR last night.
I'll try to see if I can find it today, though it's pretty radioactive over there right now.

6. My wish for the debate was this:
"Senator McCain, your campaign has called me a terrorist, your surrogates have called me a terrorist and say I "pal around with terrorists". If you truly believe that I'm a terrorist, I would like you to look me in the eye, don't look at the moderator or the audience, look right into my eyes and call me a terrorist to my face. If you can't do that, then I suggest you tell your campaign to stop it."

8. My most wingnutty coworker...
... has a photo of McCain and Palin pinned to the bulletin board in his office. I freaking HATED walking by his office and seeing it every day.

A few days ago, on my way to a meeting, I glanced over and noticed that the photo was still pinned in its place on his bulletin board, but he had turned it over so you could only see the Kodak paper backing!

I couldn't resist: "What happened to your picture, Glen?"

"I'm having a moment," he said, and went furiously back to work. :-)

I'm not sure what that meant, but I think he can smell defeat.

I couldn't agree with him more. Now is not the time to let up on them. Now is the time to push HARDER. Now is the time to deliver Barack Obama and Joe Biden the LANDSLIDE they deserve, and with it, more and better Democrats in Congress.

This is a huge opportunity for the Progressive Movement and for the Democratic Party. Do not let up!!! Keep working, keep fighting, don't get cocky, and press, press, press every wingnut you know.

We may never get another opportunity like the one that is now presented to us on a silver platter. PUSH HARDER!!
