Why Doesn't Obama Highlight the Hawaii background?
Rednecks (I know, am related to many of them) love Hawaii. He went to high school in Honolulu. It is a multi-ethnic experience, but talk about surfing and you are in... He needs to mention Hawaii-alot.
It seems shallow, but I know my rednecks....

1. he'd have to mispronounce it as "ha-WY-Yah" .....
.... or they wouldn't know what he was talking about and he wont do that. Not the man who taught us the proper way to say "Pak-ee-STAN." ;)

7. 'Ethnic' or 'exotic,' yes
Since the next likeliest Supreme Court retiree will be Stevens, leaving a 3 lib-4 con-1 swing balance, I wonder why O hasn't made a more central issue of Roe's vulnerability under a McPhalin administration.

4. You don't recall Kerry and surfing?

And his xtreme sports?

It was called elitist. As would Obama's Hawaiian background be called elitist and exotic, foreign, scary.

That's what the Republicans are telling them this month so that's what they believe. Hawaii will be cool after the elections.

8. I don't agree.
I think they could really deflect alot of the ethnic stuff with just mentioning Hawaii. It is a multicultural culture and so so cool.

9. Didn't the GOP once consider using his Hawaii background to show him as unamerican?
Seriously, I recall reading an article somewhere that the GOP was considering doing that, I know heard somewhere that they were considering doing it, but I can't recall where.

They're quintessentially *western*. With ties to Indiana, Ohio, Kansas, and Washington state.

It IS shallow.... *trivial* would be the better word .... but at this point you pull out all the stops.

18. See, it works like this with rednecks (some of them):
John McCain was born in Panama and once went to Rio in a Navy boat to chase women. This gives him a "lifetime in Latin America*" and shows he has lots of "national security experience."

Obama was born in Hawaii of parents from Kenya. This shows that he is dangerous and un-American.

Did you know his that middle name is Hussein?
