Chuck Todd: Palin is popular, she attacks with a lot of flair and a smile
and Tweety said that very soon people will not like her for her disgusting attack dog role.

Chuck Todd, you make me vomit! :puke:

1. Guess he is a member in good standing of the barracuda fan club with Pat Buchanan
and Rich Lowry.
I wonder if he has a poster of her hanging in his bedroom?

27. Oh yeah, they recognize it
These guys -- Gregory, Todd, Brokaw -- are not morons.
They are very smart and capable men.
That's why some of this coverage is completely freaking me out, like the MSM has been invaded by Rovian-trained moles or something.
Can you imagine, for one second, if this kind of vile racism was coming from Dems? They'd be talking about it 24/7.

9. it's one thing to play devil's advocate.
but he is starting to act like he's the be all and end all in analysis lately. When he finally conceded that the public seems to think that Obama and Biden won the debates, he said that it was only because McCain and Palin are graded on a curve, and people give Obama/Biden the "benefit of the doubt".

I appreciated his take on the state of the race and respected his political acumen. When he was just a numbers guy, he was cool. As NBC has broadened his role, Todd has digressed into pure hackery. Has he (d)evolved or have I?

I think he is a prototypical case of how Ds get assimilated - you don't advance in corporate media unless you carry water for the Rs. I like Todd a lot, too, but it is pretty clear he sold out to his career.

34. I loved him then myself.
I don't see him now "switching sides" or anything of the sort. He's still a numbers guy, and I still see him as such. Even what's complained about him I don't see in the same light - I see him playing with his new toy on just how McCain could possibly pull it off. At the end, he still seems to say that Obama is kicking his ass... and he seems to have a bit of glee while saying it.

36. That line was stupid, since there was no way he could lose
However, there was some meat behind it - not much, but some. If Obama had it wrapped up why weren't the states lining up behind him? 2 reasons: 1. Clinton's continued campaign and assertion that she could/would win, and 2. the media in general, reporting the race as being neck and neck.

I thought Todd was one of the only people pointing out that she had no shot... while also spouting that line.

I missed that. Maybe once every two weeks he mentioned the numbers, the rest of the time he was towing whatever line that came out of Hillary's campaign. That's all any of them really do, for any of the campaigns.

42. Yeah, once every couple of weeks
And it was fact anyway - as we all tried to tell you around here. He did not favor either of the candidates, it's sad that you still can't see it. The media favored Hillary every time they said she could win, when it was crystal clear there was absolutely no chance of it happening. It would be nice if the lid to the pity pot could be closed now.

18. He's upset that the race isn't close
The only time these analysts have any use is when the race is close. As of now, these analysts are irrelevant and he knows and he can't stand it. He's been banking on having a Tim Russert "Florida Florida Florida" moment on election night, that as of right now won't be needed.

"some would say" -- interesting phrase to use to hide behind attacking me as a "tool." but whatever, the bottom line is that I'ev been covering campaigns for nearly 20 years, 5 presidentials and hundreds of senate races... you don't call an election until the voters actually vote.

You're probably being bombarded with all kinds of facts, figures, and magic maps so I'll be brief. 'Some would say' that it appears you are a tool for the right wingers. 'Some would say' that it serves the media well to pretend this presidential race is a close one. How do you respond to those statements?

not in the way that Chuck Todd is thinking.

The consensus among non-kool aid drinkers is that she is a dolt and great fodder for comedy/photoshops.

And I'm not impressed with her attacking style either. Any two-bit politician can do what she is doing now.

49. That may not have been meant as a compliment, just as an observation.
She is wildly popular with the most base of the base. He knows that. And we shouldn't underestimate that popularity. You can see how dangerous it is. She could get someone shot, and not a candidate. Oh, yes. that has already occurred. That guy in the U.K., he was shot for wearing an Obama t-shirt. It could be the press, innocent bystanders, security personnel. That woman has stirred up something nasty in the heartland. I dread the day if her influence bears more fruit.
