HELP! A humble yet urgent request to help Obama and Biden win in NC...

Hello, everyone! We've been working like crazy to get our entire group of Democrats into office in our red corner of North Carolina and now that it looks like we have a real chance to give Obama and Biden a win here, too, we're starting to work even harder than ever!!

You've heard that when we vote straight Dem ticket in NC, we're in danger of our vote for president not counting (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=203x508956). We have a print-out we plan on getting out to every Democrat in our county but we are low on funds to get them printed. This print-out will show how it is so important for Straight Ticket voters to also vote separately for president or their vote for Obama/Biden won't count. This one issue could be the difference for us to win in NC.

Another issue we're trying to head off at the pass is the crazy prices for gas here in Western NC. We live in Cabarrus County and our area has become very important for the Obama campaign. We are lining up volunteers to drive people to the polls on election day and we don't want them to be hindered by gas that is still $4.00 a gallon. We have a very large group of elderly voters here who want to be a part of this historic election who might not be able to if not given transportation to the polls.

If you are able to donate any amount of money to our County Democratic Party, we would be so appreciative. If you feel more comfortable mailing in a gas card for us to fill our volunteers' tanks starting on the first day of early voting (Oct. 16!!!) that would help so much, too. Even if it's for $10, 2 cards of $10 each will fill the tank of my favorite volunteer. She's a retired lady who was the first to sign up to drive people to the polls. There are many more like her on our volunteer list and together we can all make this happen.

but you gave me strength to stand up to what everyone else wrote off as a Republican stronghold and not worth organizing dems for. I wanted to tell anyone who's reading that if you're donating goods to a Democratic and/or Obama office, we really appreciate it!! Sometimes paper supplies, cases of water and snacks show up when I'm doing something else and don't know who the lovely donor was to say thanks - so this is an 'in general' thanks to all of you who are doing that across America. It really is nice to have those things taken care of so we can keep on making the calls, canvassing and getting the word out about our candidates.

26. Just an idea......any billboards in your neck of the woods? Is it feasible to

put the info on billboards, even 1, along a major highway? Would it be too expensive?

27. That's a good thought, our funds are really low though, our county lost a mill that was a

major part of our economy so getting donations locally has been really difficult. That's the reason I've stepped out of my comfort zone to ask for help here. Another reason the literature is better is so our Democrats can carry them into the booth to use as they vote. I've only been volunteering with our county party since '04 and each election we've tweaked how we can do things better in future elections. I'll add your billboard idea to our planning for future elections. Thanks!
