...they would let me be the person who called Joe Lieberman on the first Wednesday in November and let him know that his new office is currently a broom closet but will be ready as soon as we remove the mops and buckets. You won't need a phone, no one will be calling.

Oh yeah, by the way.....your only committee appointment is on the sewer and water sub-committe, not scheduled to meet this session.

1. You know what would be a mixed blessing?
After the election, we have in the Senate: 58 Dems, 40 Reps, and 2 Independents.

Then, Joementum would still hold the Democratic Party hostage (like he has the power to do now, just not to the same extent). While having 9 more Democratic Senators would be GREAT, it will still allow Joe to hold onto whatever last vestige of power he feels he holds over the Senate.

I can't wait until 2012 when we can get rid of that fucker once and for all!!!

2. No he won't... Not with Obama in the White House..
He won't be vetoing everything we send him, hence no need for a supermajority..right?

3. I was thinking about filibustering.
If we had 58+2 in the Senate and the Republicans were trying to filibuster a Democratic bill, we would need all 60 votes for cloture to stop the filibuster. If the bill were something that Lieberman had an opposing view on (say, the war in Iraq), the he could vote "Nay" on cloture just to jab the Dems in the side.

I *think* that's how it works. I think this would be a rare happening, if at all, and you're right in that we wouldn't need a supermajority to pass a bill. But I can see Lieberman supporting a Republican filibuster, just to be a jerk.
