NPR Report on Ayers/Keating 5 Today
Edited on Mon Oct-06-08 06:43 PM by butlerd
NPR prepared a brief examination of the Ayers/Keating 5 stories today for "All Things Considered".

They pretty much debunked/dismissed the Ayers story outright and noted that Republicans and conservatives have served on boards with Ayers over the years and apparently none of them removed themselves from the boards over Ayers' participation on the board nor saw anything wrong with serving with him. One person interviewed seemed exasperated and called the charges of Obama "palling around with terrorists" silly.

In regards to Keating 5 they largely dismissed that as well although noted (and played audio from 1999) that McCain himself acknowledged that he made a mistake by getting involved in the whole mess. His attorney from that matter was interviewed (Dowd?) and he largely dismissed both the Keating 5 and Ayers stories as being insignificant. NPR DID mention how the Obama campaign was using the story to highlight the similarities between what was happening in the market then and now.

It would seem that nobody in the corporate media is really biting on either of these stories.

1. If it's a wash, that's still a win for Obama.
It would mean that another McCain distraction tactic has failed and he's rapidly running out of new tactics.

5. I agree
I guess McCain and/or Palin thought that they could really get some traction in the polls because of Ayers. Hopefully, despite the fact that the whole Ayers story is stupid anyway, now that Obama has applied some.....ahem.....behavior management to the McCain/Palin campaign, maybe they will re-think their new "low road" strategy.

Then again, maybe not, but at least Obama has demonstrated that he's not going to sit around and take it.

GOBAMA!!!!!!!

2. They may have dismissed the Keating scandal, but McCain didn't:

4. Exactly: Whenever somebody say "Ayers," they also have to say "Keating"
That's the point. That's the strategy. And it really works.

6. NPR is full of it.

This is about McCain's corrupt actions.

John Dowd is a liar.

Maybe NPR can check the facts on McCain's involvement with Keating instead of printing a campaign press release.
