I just Called MSNBC!
Told them that teneous ties to Ayers from 40 years ago is not relevant....while The Senate censuring McCain behavior in the Savings & Loan scandals 18 years ago is.....as it ties directly to the current economic situation that we find ourselves in.

Told them that I'm tired of the excuses that they are making for MCCain's Campaign insulting remarks against Barack Obama, and that McCain/Palin needs to stop this. And MNSBC needs to stop blaming Barack, because it is McCain changing the subject!

39. What worries me most about this election
is the "official" polls show McCain trailing by 5% (with a margin of error of 3%). After 8 years of this BS, how can Obama only hold a 5 point lead? Even here in the heart of the bible belt, looking at the people around me, I cannot see how the polls cannot be a blowout. Either America is stupid, or the polls are rigged. They are rigged, of course, so that when they name McCain the president, it will not be a big shock. They already set precedent with the exit polls.

56. Easy way to rig a poll is by pretending there are equal numbers of Dems and Repubs.
But there aren't. The numbers I've been using: 72 million Dems, 55 million Reps, 42 million inds are already out of date. New registrations are overwhelmingly Democratic, we are hearing that from everywhere.

Which is why Republicans are so desperately trying to eliminate new registrations and any old one they can get.

Good Afternoon. I've noticed that you are playing Sarah Palin's comments over and over with no interest whatsoever in correcting her lies. Why is that? I can not tell you how irate, how very angry, your lack of factual reporting leaves me. I read in the Washington Post where one of Palin's admirers yelled "kill him" when Sarah was spewing her lies about Senator Obama. And yet you continue to perpetuate this nonsense, perhaps hoping for the same thing as that Palin supporter? Again you do this, just like your treatment of Reverend Wright. Again. I am not emailing in hopes that you might consider providing any explanation of the facts to your viewership. I am emailing to let you know that what you are doing is obvious, and it's sickening.

How about this from Salon:

The Palins' un-American activities
Imagine if the Obamas had hooked up with a violently anti-American group in league with the government of Iran.

By David Talbot

Oct. 7, 2008 | "My government is my worst enemy. I'm going to fight them with any means at hand."

This was former revolutionary terrorist Bill Ayers back in his old Weather Underground days, right? Imagine what Sarah Palin is going to do with this incendiary quote as she tears into Barack Obama this week. Only one problem. The quote is from Joe Vogler, the raging anti-American who founded the Alaska Independence Party.

snip
snip
snip

Vogler's greatest moment of glory was to be his 1993 appearance before the United Nations to denounce United States "tyranny" before the entire world and to demand Alaska's freedom. The Alaska secessionist had persuaded the government of Iran to sponsor his anti-American harangue.

That's right ... Iran. The Islamic dictatorship. The taker of American hostages. The rogue nation that McCain and Palin have excoriated Obama for suggesting we diplomatically engage. That Iran.

Rest can be found here:

obama served ona couple of the same charities as this man in early 2000 i believe

the man and his wife are professors.

they live in the same neighborhood.

obama pals around with the terrorist the same as those at the college with professor, in the neighborhood with professor and all those that were
involved in charities too.

25. Exactly...
The way to go on this is to point out that the recent "ties" were tenuous at best, and can certainly NOT be considered to be "palling around" with. McCain was likely "palling around" with some of the Senate Republicans who have been indicted MUCH more than Obama was friendly with Ayers.

I sit on a volunteer board of directors for a Community Health Center, but wouldn't necessarily ever even see most of the other members of the board outside of official reasons.

28. Obama's fleeting relationship with A_ers is so far fetched...
It would be more relevant to talk about McCain's relationship to Mafia crime boss Joe Bonanno.

McCain's relationship to Charles Keating is extremely relevant as he backs away from the charge that he was in favor of less regulation in the finance industry. That is a shining example of cronyism between a corrupt CEO and a congressman that led to a taxpayer funded bailout.

Edited on Tue Oct-07-08 09:40 AM by StClone
It does not take much to connect Ayers to Obama.

From the tiniest whisper of fact you just need to take the most extreme cynical, skeptical views and come away with the most negative beliefs. Mixing lots of illogical unsubstantiated conjecture filtered through the soft brains of racist/Democrat-hating simple-minded Freetards.

And Viola! Punk Eight-year-old Obama was polishing Ayes car and planting Ayer's Bombs. Then secretly parting ways, later the older Obama reunites with his old Radical Pal to aid and abet Ayers on new radical adventures. And what did Obama get from all this. Ayers wrote Obama's stump speeches and lent support for Obama's Prez run of course!

35. Not equivalent
Yes, I caught a glimpse of CNN yesterday and they were lamenting the mud slinging and talking as if the Ayres stuff and the Keating 5 stuff were both superfluous and wrong. Nope...CNN is wrong. It's that fake equivalency thing again. Obama has no connection to Ayres' illegal activities of 40 years ago...Barak was 8 years old then. It truly is irrelevant. McCain however was personally involved...as an adult in the Senate... with the Keating 5, and the S&L bailout back then was caused by the same GOP policies (and players) of deregulation and lack of oversight that has us in our current plight. Most relevant!

42. Great work
Just sent this to most of those above and to the Fox addresses that were posted:

Why is it right for John McCain to endlessly invoke experiences from 40 years ago, but wrong for Obama to talk about a McCain scandal from 18 years ago? Why is it okay for Palin to invoke Ayers to label Obama a terrorist when she and her husband belonged to a group that openly hates America to the point of wanting to renounce statehood, an act long ago defined as treason? Why is it okay to condemn Obama for statements made by his pastor while not condemning Palin's belief in witchcraft? Why does McCain get away with calling Obama a reckless liar, when McCain has a long and provable history of erratic, reckless, even dangerous behavior and his present lies have been documented? Particularly after we've heard these lies repeated many times and have heard speeches that openly incite violence against Obama.

And why continue to cover the mendacious public rants of Palin when she will not allow the press real access to her?

We all know we're in times of unprecedented crisis. It is WRONG and IRRESPONSIBLE for the media to give the public anything but the truth. If you care about the future of this country, you must rise to the challenge of the times and have the courage that speaking truth to power imparts.

Americans have always had a basic decency that comes through in the face of adversity, but for that to happen, they must be able to separate fact from falsehood.

McCain was never censured. He and Glenn were judged to have done the least wrong and were simply criticized.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keating_Five :

The Ethics Committee ruled that the involvement of McCain in the scheme was also minimal, and he too was cleared of all charges against him.<48><47> McCain was criticized by the Committee for exercising "poor judgment" when he met with the federal regulators on Keating's behalf.<7> The report also said that McCain's "actions were not improper nor attended with gross negligence and did not reach the level of requiring institutional action against him....Senator McCain has violated no law of the United States or specific Rule of the United States Senate."<51> On his Keating Five experience, McCain has said: "The appearance of it was wrong. It's a wrong appearance when a group of senators appear in a meeting with a group of regulators, because it conveys the impression of undue and improper influence. And it was the wrong thing to do."<7>

However, Obama isn't guilty of anything either. Except maybe guilt by association (which is crap). In that sense, if I were McCain I would sprint as fast as I could away from this tactic. Because his "association" with Keating is bigger than any of the other Keating 5. Again from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keating_Five :

McCain and Keating had become personal friends following their initial contacts in 1981,<11> and McCain was the only one of the five with close social and personal ties to Keating.<35><36> Like DeConcini, McCain considered Keating a constituent as he lived in Arizona.<28> Between 1982 and 1987, McCain had received $112,000 in political contributions from Keating and his associates.<37> In addition, McCain's wife Cindy McCain and her father Jim Hensley had invested $359,100 in a Keating shopping center in April 1986, a year before McCain met with the regulators. McCain, his family, and their baby-sitter had made nine trips at Keating's expense, sometimes aboard Keating's jet. Three of the trips were made during vacations to Keating's opulent Bahamas retreat at Cat Cay. McCain did not pay Keating (in the amount of $13,433) for some of the trips until years after they were taken, when he learned that Keating was in trouble over Lincoln.<7><38> In 1989 Phoenix New Times writer Tom Fitzpatrick opined that McCain was the "most reprehensible" of the five senators.<39>

So McCain got more money from Keating than the other members of the 5 and got plane rides and goodies as well. Are you sure you want to play the guilt by association card John?

50. Just to be accurate...
The ties are from the 90s, when both were working in Chicago politics. The 40 year connection does not involve Obama at all. He didn't even KNOW Ayers 40 years ago, had never set foot in Chicago, and for part of the time was not even living in the United States.

One would be hard pressed to find any Chicago politician of note who was working in the 90s who didn't have some kind of connection to Ayers.

51. my letter to them

I am so disgusted to see Obama being tied to a guy's actions that occurred when Obama was EIGHT, and, his minor political connection to him as an adult in being from the same locale with Ayers backing him, isn't that strong of a connection to say they "palled" around. The media should not let Palin get away with this ridiculous assertion that somehow Obama was associated with these domestic attacks that Ayers did in response to civil unrest in the 60's. Obama stands above that kind of behavior and is very measured. Palin, in throwing out the "terrorist" word in constant deliberation when saying Barack Obama is nothing short of dangerous and inspiring racial, political, and undeserving hatred being directed at Obama from some of her supporters because of the type of rhetoric being employed by the governor.

McCain's connection to the S&L crisis of the 80's is DIRECTLY tied to the financial disaster we're facing now, so it's a noteworthy topic that I believe the Obama camp has been long prepared to discuss with the looming financial crisis. I'm sure all of you have loads of cash when people like me have maybe a $1000. to our name, and I'm not insulting your good fortune, I'm happy for you, but this election is so VERY important to us suffering people (and the people worse off than me) than to allow it to be hijacked by the insane rantings of Sarah Palin.

God help America

60. If Ayers was any kind of terrorist threat today wouldn't that say the GOP are just more inept.?? >
Clearly he's not and was misquoted, he denounced his extreme actions but wished he'd done more to stop the war.

67. I have never sent so many emails at once...
but I did and I used some of the OP along with the recent development of AIP-Iran connection.

To whom it may concern,

Tenuous ties to Ayers from 40 years ago is not relevant, Ayers was not found guilty of any crime and is now a highly respected professor in Chicago. While The Senate censuring McCain's behavior in the Savings & Loan scandals 18 years ago is, as it ties directly to the current economic situation that we find ourselves in.

Keating, as you are aware, is now sitting in prison and McCain had a much-much closer relationship with Keating than Obama ever had with Ayers. So close, that McCain took several vacations with him, even taking the entire McCain Clan along.

It should also be know that Palin and her AIP friends even had support/ties to Iran.
http://digg.com/politics/The_Palins_Secessionist_Group_...

"AIP chairwoman Lynette Clark told me recently that Sarah Palin is her kind of gal. "She's Alaskan to the bone ... she sounds just like Joe Vogler."

So who are these America-haters that the Palins are pallin' around with?

Before his strange murder in 1993, party founder Vogler preached armed insurrection against the United States of America. Vogler, who always carried a Magnum with him, was fond of saying, "When the bureaucrats come after me, I suggest they wear red coats. They make better targets. In the federal government are the biggest liars in the United States, and I hate them with a passion. They think they own . There comes a time when people will choose to die with honor rather than live with dishonor. That time may be coming here. Our goal is ultimate independence by peaceful means under a minimal government fully responsive to the people. I hope we don't have to take human life, but if they go on tramping on our property rights, look out, we're ready to die."

That Iran."

Stop giving Mccain/Palin a free pass, it will do us as a nation no good if they take the Hill in November.

Regards,

75. That was yesterday. But I called today as well.
Live person answered the phone both times. I asked to leave a message for a particular person. I get transfered to a voice mail, and leave my message. I'm courteous but stern in my rant. Tell exactly what I think. It makes me feel great, and I know that someone is gonna have to hear the message......But I email too, just in case. :)

The Ayers story has no relevance! It is ridiculous! All one has to do is the math, a desperate attempt by the McCain camp! But you are right the MSM, should NOT be reporting this as relevant!
