What do sick gamblers do when they are down? They get less conservative, and bet recklessly to make a quick comback. Examples
1. McCain is losing to Obama. Options would be to get a VP that would be strong on the economy, the single biggest issue, which would then close the gap and give him a stronger argument that he is the one to fix the economy, or he could go downtown on Palin (no pun, sorry Mac.)Result - short term unsustainable boost and in the end she starts to drag him down. The scary thing is that he was willing to bet his election chances, not on whether we would find out that she is an idiot, but rather he was betting that more than half of the voters were idiots.
2. McCain is losing to Obama again, and his bankroll is shrinking. Time to go for broke. The gloves are off, the heels are on and McNasty rears his ugly head. The bet now is that the American people will trust very weak allegations that have already been discussed for the past year. The funny part about this is that people that have made up their mind for Obama will not but into this, mainly because they watch and read mainstream media, which has already brushed it off as nonsense. The McCain base of Shush Hanbaugh zombies will buy into it, but the moderate republicans, and intelligent republicans will be turned off ultimately because they won't buy it and they will lose more respect for John. This will seal the deal for Obama. What was the bet? John McCain's integrity and reputation, and what is left of Palin's political career and bookdeals. She has an ugly ordeal waiting for her back home. The Witch hunt is on because she just became Alaska's microcosm of George W. Bush. Her aides are testifying and everyone will distance themselves from her. Alaska really needs Thomas Muthee now, but they already know who the witch is.
As they say in Vegas, it is good to be the house. John, Sarah thanks for playing you get two free buffets, but I have to inform you that your line of credit has been cut off. You may have heard that there is a credit crunch. (you can find the definition on Wikipedia Sarah) Have a nice life.
Thank goodness McCain will not be able to roll the dice as President.
