They can try all the crap they want on this Ayers thing. Hell, first of all his activism
occurred when Barack was what; 8 years old. There are a lot of 60's radicals, activists, whatever that are now distinguished citizens and Ayers is now a distinguished professor at the University of Illinois. Also, you will find several media outlets, Washington Post, Time, others that have all debunked this idea that Obama and Ayers had a close relationship. Their relationship is nothing more than acquaintance, business, whatever but they are not "pals" or buddies and they are talking about the times of the 60s, years ago. You could probably find a CEO who was or could be called a radical activist. All of us in our youth or those interested in change can be radical in our views at that time of our life. That is when you are most likely to be involved in movements.

This is just more bs of McCain and his ignorant VP candidate who probably doesn't even know squat about the 60's or those involved in the movement to stop the war. The 60s were very turbulent times because of the war and the draft and many years ago. I do not think McCain and Palin trying to make a connection on this is going to fly or stick just like all their other bs they have tried since they seem to stay away from the issues that the people of this country are really interrested in and who most likely is going to try to fix them.

CNN also talks about Palin and her latest smear attempt to dredge up this tired story about Ayers.

2. True, but most of us activists in the 60's didn't bomb buildings
nor did we deliberately try to hurt people.

I have seen your posts on here before and it seems you always have this thing about attacking Obama. I remember one where you were going on about what Karl Rove knows and what he is going to bring out.

Looks like you try to get at anything and again, what the hell is your point with Ayers and what he did have to do with anything about Obama which is what this post is about, his association with Ayers, not what Ayers did.

So, your point was?

People were killed then. Bullets count, too.

Your points are irrelevant.

17. Fine. FORMER WU members committed the Brinks robbery.
Edited on Sun Oct-05-08 08:19 AM by WinkyDink
Look, I STILL have my protest arm-bands from 1970. Remember? When colleges shut down and called off classes? I walked behind armed Staties on PSU's campus.

I am simply baffled as to how the infamous WU is being considered here.

21. Fine. FORMER Democrats fought against civil rights.
By your logic, we shouldn't be Democrats? We shouldn't support Democrats?

Your ignorance of the facts, given that you lived through them and I wasn't even born in 1970, is rather astounding.

26. LOL, good answer and also have you seen how he wants to turn this around
and he is focusing on Ayers which was not what this post was about but the claim that Ayers and obama have an association.

Not sure what his agenda is but you can tell it is not in Obama's favor.

5. Let's not confuse topics, okay? It is true Obama has no serious connection to Ayers. IT IS NOT TRUE
was a mere "protestor" or "radical", even.
HE WAS, BY ANY DEFINITION, a TERRORIST.
Try reading about the Weathermen.

Unless you think bombing the Pentagon, among other actions, was simply youthful exuberance?

trying to change this topic to Ayers not about the association Rove, McCain, Palin are trying to do.

Hell Obama was around 8 years old with the stuff going on you are trying to bring into this.

What the hell is your point about what Ayers did like Obama was connected to it or something.

10. Evidently you cannot read. There is one topic and that topic is trying to associate Obama
Edited on Sun Oct-05-08 08:10 AM by EV_Ares
with Ayers which is what McCain is trying to do. As I said it has nothing to do with what Ayers did or did not do.

Now sorry you got called on this but accusing me of lying, go somewhere else and try and make a connection like you are trying to do and trying to change the topic of this.

BTW: Ayers, Boudin, Oughton, et al. are (or were) my contemporaries. As a war protestor, I read of them in real time. I met Mark Rudd. I have from the inception been aware of the Weather Underground, SDS, etc.

I have read a lot on both, and your conflating of the two organizations shows a rather appalling amount of ignorance.

"Weatherman, known colloquially as the Weathermen and later the Weather Underground Organization, was an American radical left organization founded in 1969 by leaders and members who split from the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS). The group organized a riot in Chicago in 1969 and bombed buildings in the 1970s"

16. For this election there's little more reason to debate this than to debate that 2+2=5
Edited on Sun Oct-05-08 08:21 AM by 4themind
It really doesn't matter what Ayers did, in the context of this election, because he has virtually nothing to do with Obama. Obama's camp has the right tactic here, dismiss their claims as facutually false (using the own article they cite) and IMMEDIATELY shift the focus back to the economy. The only thing these guys want to do is to have people discussing Ayers, rather than discussing the economy. And so I think the focuss should stay there, not shift to Ayers or even Todd Palin
The best thing to do is to dismiss the sugggestion that Obama has terrorist sympathies as absurd (like 2+2=5) and then immediately say that they're bringing up this stuff because they don't want to talk about the economy, and have no solution for it. Republicans have spent over 10 million dollars trying to connect Obama to Ayers, it's done nothing, and I really think the american people have largely implied that this topic isn't worth of discussion especially now that a mountain of debt is approaching people's lives. And honestly this is just so off the wall that people can't believe that he met ayers because he has the same views NOW as this guy did when Obama WAS EIGHT YEARS OLD. This would be like if the swift boaters claimed that John Kerry was actually the Leader of the Viet Cong, or that he was a space alien, or that he wants to blow up the world, there are just some things (even for the american public) that just defy their sense of reality and I think we need to state it as such then move on.

Edited on Sun Oct-05-08 08:35 AM by Stuart G
to increase their profits..That debate..is more important than the truth about anything.

What is written in the post by.. 4themind, is the crux of the media... 2 plus 2 equals 5...
That may not be the truth,,,but who cares, we make money.

25. If McCain is going to bring up this foolish, baseless garbage,
I hope his fellow POWs will speak out about the real story of McCain's "heroism." I hope the Keating scandal is front and center. I hope Cindy's drug use comes out. If McCain farted in a movie theater, I want to hear about it.
