Obama Will Preempt McCain Attack Ads
Edited on Sat Oct-04-08 11:47 PM by ClarkUSA
From Political Wire:

"Branding his opponent as 'erratic in a crisis,' Sen. Barack Obama is preempting plans by Sen. John McCain to
portray him as having sinister connections to controversial Chicagoans," according to Politico.

"Obama officials call it political jujitsu -- turning the attacks back on the attacker."

McCain officials had said early in the weekend that they plan to begin advertising after Tuesday’s debate that
will tie Obama to convicted money launderer Tony Rezko and former Weathermen radical William Ayers.

But Obama isn’t waiting to respond. His campaign is going up Monday on national cable stations with a
scathing ad saying: “Three quarters of a million jobs lost this year. Our financial system in turmoil.
And John McCain? Erratic in a crisis. Out of touch on the economy. No wonder his campaign wants
to change the subject.

“Turn the page on the financial crisis by launching dishonorable, dishonest ‘assaults’ against Barack
Obama. Struggling families can't turn the page on this economy, and we can't afford another president
who is this out of touch.”

Then Obama says: “I'm Barack Obama and I approved this message.”

Doncha love it?

10. Excellent! Nice to see. I hope they mean it, and that this won't be the only one of its kind.
They need a BUNCH of these in a constant barrage from now until Election Day.

And they need to start reminding people about THE KEATING FIVE.

Cut their lying balls off for good. They deserve it. Speaking the truth and standing up for us has never been more important. Do it, Obama.

13. It may be that they are saving the snipping until they really need it - like in the last week.
A steady escalation of hard defense is better than an uber-negative ad buy now, one month out. This ad is good at letting the
voter beware. Can't wait to see it. :)

18. MTP aired the ad -- it was good. The panel discussed it and agreed the economy was paramount.
Even McCain's former campaign manager, Mike Murphy said that "dubious" attacks re: Ayers are not going to sway undecideds
because they are worried about the economy above all.
