I would like to know how split-screen viewers' VP debate assessment varied
Edited on Sat Oct-04-08 04:44 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
I watched the debate on CNN for the squiggly audience reaction lines and CNN mostly showed just whoever was speaking.

Just re-watched the debate on MSNBC with split-screen throughout and it was a whole different experience.

I had not known that every single time Palin said anything negative Biden was smiling and chuckling like a tolerant grandfather watching a simple-minded grandchild reciting lines from Dirty Harry movies.

Very few people could have grinned and nodded all night without seeming patronizing, but somehow he pulled it off. Given the extraordinary circumstances and limitations--the tight-rope nature of the thing--I would have to rate Biden's debate performance as the best I have ever seen.

1. Agreed. It must have taken Herculean will to not just laugh in her face.
Biden is the man.

2. had the same experience
first on CNN and then on C-span with split screen.
Palin grinned the entire time, especially while Biden was answering and she was reading her notes to find out what she was supposed to say next.
She struck me as rude and condescending in her behavior which was her intention I suppose. But she is just not knowledgeable enough to pull it off.
She looked like bush.

3. She was very aware that Biden was smiling that smile at her while she was attacking.
When she made that stupid "Say it ain't so Joe" line, Biden was cracking up and she broke a smile.

She knew she met her match.

Joe handled her perfectly.
