The horror in all of this - that you can cram to be the VP?

I was listening to a Fox pundit on Diane Rehm's NPR radio show today. Except for Dionne (who was incredulous at the comments of his fellow pundits), they all talked as if grading Palin on a curve (generous one at that) was OK - comments like "everyone gets coached before a debate", like "well, Biden has made some big gaffs", etc.

The media needs to wake itself up and look from above. The office of the presidency - at this crucial time - has as a potential inhabitant (remote chance, but not zero), someone who has no understanding of the position - and from a party that thinks that teaching to the test is enough!

As the experience of watching the horror of last night sinks in, that is the true travesty of this all.

1. Remember, it was more mini-speeches, not a debate that had

true responses to the proffered questions and rebuttal to the opponent's responses. It's easy to bone up on facts and get on a soapbox and speechify. It's another thing to think on your feet.

2. you don't have to know or understand anything beforehand. You just

have to deliver your lines with aplomb. That's all she does, and they applaud her for it. This is why we're going down the toilet as a nation.

But to actually be an effective and competent VP? No way.

as the media has repeatedly talked about Palin craming for this debate.

If she has to cram, she's not qualified!!
