Let's be clear - Palin "beat" ABYSMAL expectations, nothing more.
There were more posters last night that I'm comfortable remembering who were expressing concern that Palin "did too well" and I couldn't disagree more with them. Palin, as a result of her own pathetic performances, had pushed the expectations so unbelievably low that there really was no way short of throwing up on national television that she comes out of this looking anything other than "better than before". Early polling reflects that as well, with 84% saying she beat expectations. That's an enourmous number to be sure, but the public wasn't expecting very much from this poor woman and that 84% number is actually quite telling as to what the public really thinks about McCain's choice of running mate.

Biden won that debate, all sides agree and early polling reflects that as well, and I actually expect to see Obama tick a point or two higher in the polls over the weekend.

1. I heard the debate on the radio. Did I miss anything visual?
I thought she did better than I expected, but found her answers to be somewhat superficial. I thought Biden had a much better command of the subjects and facts.

Just listening to them both, Biden came off much more presidential...

3. She did alot of winking. Literally winking at the camera all night.
I thought she did better by looking directly at the camera while Biden seem to talk to the moderator most of the night. But then, some commentators thought that looking at the camera so much made her look like a dolt, so what do I know?

2. Exactly
And of course there's people who think she won. There always will be, because that's what they want. But, on an objective level, she lost.
