1. K&R -- I'll watch it after work.
Can't wait. I bet she's not as bad as one would think, at that level.

Vigilance.

2. I Saw It, She's Not A Bad Debater, She Will Do Better Than In An Interview
The problem with interviews is that there is no time limit, and its a conversation. With a debate, there are strict time limits, and structure, so to a certain extent, Palin can hide behind her soundbites. Even follow-up questions must come with the structure of the debate while in an interview, you really can't re-group while your opponent is talking.

My take is that she will have a bag of lines based on comments Joe has made, which may appear inconsistent from Obama, and she will work to get them in. I also think we she will be well coached to simply defer questions about McCain to McCain.

4. So, a few comments that Joe has made may differed from Obama
Big deal *yawn* Wasn't one of the expressed reasons that Obama picked Biden because he didn't think Biden would be a "yes man" and that he would be willing to express his disagreements with Obama? Did Cheney agree with Bush 100% of the time? Did Bill and Al agree on everything 100% of the time? I don't think she'll get much mileage from pointing out potential differences (driving a wedge?) between Obama and Biden.

3. Sarah did a pretty decent job during the gubernatorial debates.

But Alaska has very parochial issues that don't have a lot to do with the rest of the world. She is definitely outside of her "comfort zone" these days -- especially since I'm sure that the McCain handlers are trying to force feed her all the talking points, that aren't necessarily her own beliefs on the issues.

7. Tony's heart didn't really seem to be in the campaign

in 2006. I myself voted for Eric Croft in the Democratic primary, and my husband almost voted for Andrew Halcro, the third person in this debate, in the general. We both ended up voting for Tony, good Democrats that we are, but I agree he was less than stellar.

9. I've seen a lot of this
She's very good at sounding authoritative on wedge-issues. That's about it.
