Democrats Saved the Country Today.

Sandbagged by the House GOP on Monday into thinking they had a deal, the Democratic members of the House took matters into their own hands today by passing a sweeping bailout bill that included all of the provisions of the failed bill, plus extra protection for homeowners trying to avoid foreclosure.

By a mostly party-line vote of 240-198 (55 GOP defectors joined the Democrats, while a handful of Democratic holdouts voted no), the Democratic party pulled George Bush's ass out of the fire and, in the process, saved the Republic for future President Barack Obama.

While it is regrettable that George Bush will now only go down as the worst President in history (instead of Worst Person in World History), it is better to save the American public than to punish Bush.

Remember on election day to reward the Democrats who saved your asses (and assets) today. If you still have a job on November 4th, it is because the Democrats put the country ahead of their own personal political interests.

5. Yeah, let's just give Paulson and Bernanke $700 billion - we can trust them, right?

8. They will be granted unprecedented authority to do what they want with this money.
That's a huge problem with me.

10. Obama will go to DC

No business tomorrow-Jewish holiday

There will be a bailout. There has to be like it or not.

By the time Obama gets there public opinion will be turned enough-bald guys in suits yelling repeatedly about how "payrolls will not be met" and "no one will buy YOUR house" will do the job.

Arms will be twisted. Future deals made and the votes, at least on the Dem side, will appear

Obama will arrive to oversee the new bill (they haven't got the point out that this is NOT the original Paulson deal) and he will look like the LEADER.

McCain will have even more egg on his face.
