McCain campaign statement on the failed vote - you won't believe it
“From the minute John McCain suspended his campaign and arrived in Washington to address this crisis, he was attacked by the Democratic leadership: Senators Obama and Reid, Speaker Pelosi and others. Their partisan attacks were an effort to gain political advantage during a national economic crisis. By doing so, they put at risk the homes, livelihoods and savings of millions of American families.

“Barack Obama failed to lead, phoned it in, attacked John McCain, and refused to even say if he supported the final bill.

“Just before the vote, when the outcome was still in doubt, Speaker Pelosi gave a strongly worded partisan speech and poisoned the outcome.

“This bill failed because Barack Obama and the Democrats put politics ahead of country.”

—McCain-Palin senior policy adviser Doug Holtz-Eakin

2. That's not just believable, it's predictable.
The GOP always blames is fuck-ups on the Democrats.

It often works, too.

3. It's not going to work when even Joe Scarborough and that
cross-eyed strategist are both saying that McCain will take a massive hit for this. He doubled down and he lost.

That's GOOD- he's on the record as saying the bailout was good for the country
I'd be worried if he were opposing the bailout- that's more politically popular.

30. Well...they had to say something...
If the whole "You hurted our feeeeeeelings" so we are going to hold the economy hostage response is the best they can come up with, they are in deep. Everyone will see through that.

What's with Brian Williams bringing Pelosi's remarks up on NBC? He totally implied it was Pelosi's fault without even expressing a smidgeon of outrage that these f@ckers are acting like three year olds. I wouldn't advise him to play that angle, it can't end well for him.

25. Boo hoo hoo!
Get over it. Either we need this bill, or we don't. If we need it and the Republicans didn't vote because they didn't like what Pelosi said, or what Obama did, or didn't do, then it is the Republicans who have put politics before country. Imagine that.

29. He really has no shame - Obama would not even have been in Washington.
He just went there for McCain's photo-up.

“This bill failed because Barack Obama and the Democrats put politics ahead of country.”

They are really desperate. It was the GOP who voted 2:1 against it...
