The Early Line: Diageo/Hotline Tracking Poll

- Obama holds a striking 55-29% lead among Inds.

- Half as many RVs say the U.S. is headed in the right direction as did in the initial Diageo/Hotline tracking survey. Just 10% say right track today vs. 20% in the poll completed 9/7.

- Foreign policy debate or not, the economy is the hot topic. 60% of RVs now say the economy is the most important issue facing the U.S., up from 39% two weeks ago (in the survey completed 9/12). 46% now favor Obama on handling of the economy; 35% say McCain.

Today's poll, conducted 9/24-26 by FD, surveyed 914 RVs and has a margin of error of +/- 3.2%.
