Gergen says McCain needed a clear victory, and didn't get it
On CNN, David Gergen just said that McCain needed a "clear victory" and he didn't get it. I think that McCain did well, but I think that Gergen is right on this one. McCain is behind, and he needed to hit one out of the park -- and that didn't happen.

1. He did. CNN seems to be much easier to watch.
They are basically saying that it was a tie, and McCain needed more. I would agree with that.

3. Like usual, the Democrat was stuck fact checking all the Rethugs lies.

Obama did great at it, plus nailed McSame on the "singing songs to bomb Iran". Most likely a tie, but I give the slight edge to Obama as the more likeable of the two.

McSame did not hit it out of the park at all.

4. And thank God
McCain survived to take this ticket to November. His obvious comfort switch to anecdote/lie time after 37
agonized minutes on the current economic crisis enabled him to reach the end, un-victorious, unarmed but not in severe mental breakdown.

The switch to actual full discussion on the economy next time should be interesting. The most galling thing though I am not sure what Obama would have to say was about his very last mention of "handling" and "resolving" of the MIA/Vietnam issue. At that point a lot of veteran boots must have going through TV screens across the country.

If he tries to ease through the next one(town hall format) with concern anecdotes to cover Bushanomics Part Deux, it should be a lot more infuriating.

5. ABC's George Will said that Obama won
He said that tonight it was important that Obama show that he belonged on the stage (was presidential) - he likened it to Reagan's first debate and said that put Obama over the top.
