5. Not at all!
He needs to call out Mccain on his constant lying. Gloves should have come off.

9. Get over yourself Frenchie.
There were half a dozen times he could have flipped it over on McCain.

Send him my regards next time you talk to him.

10. I'm an Obama supporter and gave money to his campaign.....
.... so am I allowed to say he did not defend himself and should start defending himself from now on? Or I'm not allowed?

23. Go ahead and speak the truth
Obama was far too conciliatory. I'm hoping he'll learn quickly from this mistake...and that he'll be able to make up for it in the next one.

25. he defended himself constantly, he broke in to point out lies, he rebutted
did he do it 100% and do it 100% your way? no and why should he? who got him through the primaries and to a lead, you or Axelrod?

thank you.

15. Like Gore was in his 1st debate in 2000; problem was it didn't help him with undecideds
that's why Obama took the tone he did.

he's not debating to convince us, he already did that.

13. McCain is behind; Obama took the right tone in keeping it that way
He defended himself appropriately. The voters open to changing their minds in a debate are mostly not rational (hell, they haven't decided yet? :wtf: ) and frequently decide based on if one guy seemed too mean, hair, and other nonsense. Obama didn't do anything to hurt himself among those folks.

14. NO, he let McCain interrupt him and talk over him way to much.
However, the media has always anointed McCain as the foreign policy - defense guy. Obama can't change things over night but he did give people a reason to consider MCCain's judgment and temperament.

18. I agree. This was a debate, not a visit to an old folks' home where one is sweet and kind and lets
others talk about whatever they want.

16. McCain was condescending
Patronising Obama will only have irritated and alienated everyone wanting to see a constructive debate.

17. HA! HA! ... I'm listening the 2nd time on Air America. It's absolutely exquisite.
Obama wasn't "defending".
He simply blew it away.

I don't think ANYONE should do that, ever!

Sorry...couldn't resist.

Seriously, I don't know why Obama's debate coach didn't nip that in the bud.

22. he shouldn't have agreed with McCain, some opponents would
have been fine with that, but McCain is such an ass, you just don't say that to him.

But other than that... He knocked his butt down a few times. Cracked me up when Obama had a bracelet too!!! You could tell McCain was not expecting that, he was upset he was robbed lol
