Debate Is a Dead Heat So Far
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 08:49 PM by Yavin4
Each candidate is just exchanging their own talking points.

But, a tie goes to Obama.

3. Nope. CNN gimmick shows McCain down consistently with independents and Obama up.

4. While I disagree... the first debate is usually just a "feeling out"
Neither will likely go for a KO.

5. You could have left out the word heat
It's dead. That's what I'm expecting the analysts to highlight tonight, if it stays like this. I can't remember a more blase debate. McCain is virtually whispering. I'd love to hear Jeffrey Toobin's summary at this point. Normally he's spot on.

Now McCain is starting to attack so it might get interesting. Obama is looking straight at him and firing all barrels about Iraq but McCain won't make eye contact.

6. Intellectually I think Obama's winning on logic
while McCain blathers about how cutting federal spending will save the middle class. But for 'average' non-political voters, they're both coming off equally well--no screw ups and no zingers.

7. That's my take so far...
...although I think McCain may come out on top for not getting creamed. Obama needs to turn it up on him.

11. "talking points". That's all McCain has. But Obama has instant recall of facts, figures,
and priorities, as well as a framework of talking points. IMO, it's not even close.

Look at the split screen of McCain's face while Obama enumerated MANY ways in which McCain has been "wrong" on Iraq. That has been the newsclip moment of the night so far, IMO.

14. Obama is relaxed, composed, and he rebutes every McCain lie with Facts.
McCone is just practicing his Snort-Smirk-HandGesture Combo (tm).

19. I think Obama is winning, but just barely. However, considering this is McCain's area of expertise
Obama will win this debate.

21. Nope
McCain looks flustered - angry - temperamental - and UNPRESIDENTIAL.

Barack looks like the next President of the United States.
