Sharpton, Ahead in Polls, Offers Kerry VP Post
:)

Sharpton, Ahead in Poll, Offers Kerry VP Post
(2003-12-19) -- In the wake of new presidential polling numbers which show Al Sharpton with greater support than Senator John F. Kerry, Mr. Sharpton has offered Mr. Kerry second position on his presidential ticket.

"We'd be a great team," said Mr. Sharpton. "We each supply what the other lacks. He has money, and I have personality, a sense of humor and the ability to motivate a crowd. Plus, I've proven that I can run more economically than John."

The Brooklyn preacher's campaign typically has less than $20,000 cash on hand.

Kerry campaign aides said he's considering Mr. Sharpton's "gracious" offer, which comes on a day when news reports claim Mr. Kerry will mortgage his Beacon Hill home to loan $850,000 to his own campaign.

"If you combine my 5 percent with John's 4 percent," said Mr. Sharpton, "it would put us in a virtual dead-heat for second place with Joe Lieberman and Wes Clark. Persuading John to be my vice president would be easier for me than mortgaging my Beacon Hill home."

Kerry campaign manager, Mary Beth Cahill, released a written statement which said, "For John F. Kerry to be Al Sharpton's vice president would be almost as great an honor as being Teresa Heinz's husband or Senator Kennedy's junior colleague from Massachusetts."

7. Kerry on himself (and his sense of humor)
When I inquired what other journalists have missed in profiling him, (Kerry) shot back, “How much fun I am.”

4. Though I have
a greater respect for Sharpton than I have in the past I find this disgusting. I now have a clearer understanding why voter turnout is so low in this country. That a candidate with the experience and history of John Kerry would poll lower than Sharpton (who has done little, if anything, to improve our country) is sickening. That candidates who did nothing during Viet Nam, did nothing to improve our environment, did nothing to improve our country... I can go on and on... is given more credit than one who did ... is sad for this country. This has been mentioned on CNN.... sad and disgusting.

8. Deanies spread the meme that Kerry was a "corrupt Washington insider"
and so many people were new to politics that they believed the lie.

Very sad. Especially since Dean, himself, was calling Kerry, "Bushlite' so sad he chose to deceive these new voters.

11. Kerry voted for IWR
That's an undeniable fact!

Kerry's vote for IWR totally disqualies him from the Presidency IMHO.

It appears that I am not alone in that assessment.

6. Each supplies what the other lacks
Sharpton gets money, and Kerry gets a personality! Ideal!

10. John Kerry also has
a great record on the environment, civil rights, and working with people for effective change like better relations with vietnam for better relations after a horrible war. these are the real reasons al sharpton or anyone else would consider kerry for president, vp, senator etc.
