Mike Pence(R, Indiana): There is no deal!
We are not going to nationalize bad mortgages in America. He is saying that the Democrats jumped the gun in saying that there was a deal in principle.

Norah O"Donnell: Do you agree with Sarah Palin and John McCain that if no deal=Great Depression?
Mike Pence said: Recession not Depression.

Norah: Are there enough votes to block passage of what Barney Frank announced?
Mike Pence: Evaded question saying that 2/3 of the country disapprove of the bailout plan.

It seems to me that McSame is a hindrance to the plan and that he will use that excuse of "no deal" to miss the debate.

2. No, I think the troops are in revolt against the leadership.
I'm not sure it's a Dem/Rep thing, and McCain may well be there to try to get the Reps on board. I'm not saying McCain's not an opportunistic lying mfer, but he might be trying to push passage.
