McCain Is A Good Debater, But He WAS Afraid Of Friday's Debates Due To International Economics
The Friday debate is on Foreign Policy issues. However, look at the GOP talking points, saying that Friday's debate is on foreign policy, when the big issue is economic policy. Huh? Economic policy runs hand in hand with foreign policy, given trade, global warming, and the Chinese purchase of U.S. debt.

The problem is that John McCain wanted Friday's to simply foreign policy to a debate about military policy. McCain wanted this Friday to focus on the Iraq and the surge. However, the events of the past two weeks suddenly put foreign policy into perspective, and on ground that McCain simply is not prepared for. If McCain talks about the surge, while Obama is talking about the workings of financial markets, McCain will look seriously out of touch and out of his league.

That is why I think that John McCain would almost welcome an excuse to either cancel this debate or the VP debate. If tommorrow's debate takes place, the issue that will dominate the debate is International Finance, NOT military strategy, which is in McCain's confort zone. Remember, McCain did not even read the original 3 page draft Bush plan. In contrast, Obama has conducted 2 press conferences in this week alone on the subject, and demonstrated mastery of the issues.

Yes, Obama is at a disadvantage when it comes to spitting out talking points, but in a debate over International Finance, McCain would look seriously out of touch trying to explain credit markets, the bailout, and Chinese funding of U.S. debt. Seriously, imagine McCain trying to respond to such questions. McCain would not be able to punt by saying that he would kick everything to a commission.

So, I think McCain is not only trying to avoid the Palin VP debate, but he is avoiding a debate on International Finance. I think McCain would be perfectly happy at this point to do the Townhall and the Domestic Policy debate, and use the townhall to push the surge.

2. John McCain has reached a point in his life
where he neither has the time, energy or ability to juggle two major issues at once. It takes all he has to handle a single issue, be it a debate or dealing with the economic crisis. There is just no way he could remember all the needed facts and get his naps in, if he took on both issues. He would be calling Ben Bernanke the president of Iraq, during the debate, if he tried to tackle them both.

4. Accoding To NY Times, He Destroyed Romney...
And I saw some of those debates. Of course, maybe Romney also has a problem keeping his cool when McCain lies about him, but I agree with the NY Times that Romney looked like a loose cannon due to McCain's getting under his skin.
