By pushing back the Pres debate they want to push back the VP debate, much of the speculation is because she needs more time to prepare.

They know by now that more time is not going to help, they already set the debate to softball with all of their constraints and they have seen she can't even perform in a softball environment without editing, let alone a live audience after teh Couric and Gibson interviews.

So the reschedule of the VP debate isn't about more time to prepare, but less time for her failure to impact.

In addition their venue shopping of the Troopergate thing has failed which means it will not be gone and swept under the rug and thus be fair game.

What is she going to do make statements on it that can be held against her or worse plead the fifth in front of a national audience.

So pushing back the VP debate is a must, if they dont get it rescheduled, it just wont happen the same way as they ignore the subpoenas, McCain will just say we have decided to pass on the VP debate because the environment has turned to partisan.
