I am sorry Skinner but I detest this rating system

I understand that you were expanding the commentary, and I appreciate the move to the right of the screen, but the rating of ops as must read, average or skip.. That is something that I can decide for myself.

It is just distracting, and predisposes how I am going to view the op if I decide to open it up.

I understand others enjoy it, My request is that you please give us a system to shut it off.

I would so appreciate that. If one could shut it off, those who enjoy having ops rated for them without ever having read it, can do just that...yep that was sarcastic.

I'm not a big fan of this new system, either. I think threads sinking to the bottom with few replies said enough. I think "skip it" and "disruptive" is needlessly cruel. If this system just had Must Read, and Recommended, I would like it a lot better. I've never been much for starting threads to begin with, because I'm a bit of a chicken. I'm pretty sure I'm much less likely to ever start a thread now.

15. I doubt the rating alone affects the likelyhood of

people reading a thread and making up their own mind about its content. The thread title and author probably have more of an effect.
Besides, we already had recommendations and views. The main difference now is that we have a better idea of the various opinions around here.
