My lifetime Republican work colleague confessed to me she won't vote McCain
She's never voted for a Democratic before, and won't now, but she told me she plans to vote Libertarian. She's a life long hard right winger and I've never seen her so unenthusiastic about an election. She also said she has a McCain sign in front of her house, but then whispered to me that she's not gonna vote for him. This is a woman who didn't take the W sticker off of her car until about two months ago, thinks Obama is a Muslim and told me I must be wrong when I told her that Obama was a constitutional law professor. It's great to watch the reich wing flap in the wind.

2. I wonder what sort of pressure there is on her to have the McCain sign
if she isn't going to vote for him. Must be strange to be that scared.

5. I'm not sure what all of the anger is about. Bush has been a fantastic Republican president.
In fact, I would rank him as one of the best presidents ever. Certainly not because I agree with him on anything, but he has gotten nearly everything (with the exception of privatizing Social Security and completely privatizing education) he has wanted done and has delivered for his base more than any president I can remember, even more than Reagan. Everything he has done has been highly consistent with the GOP platform.

Yeah, some Republicans may feign anger over the budget deficits, but the ones who are in the know understand that this it is a necessary short-term evil for their long-term plan (using a high budget deficit to dismantle everything except for the military because they like killing people, and, hey, let's be honest, it's all the US has left that's worth a shit).

6. Why does she have a McCain sign in front
of her house, if she doesn't support him?

7. I suspect she feels somehow obligated
as a life long Repub to support the party, but she knows that I'm a lefty so she felt safe confiding in me her secret.

8. My best friend who bleeds Republican will not vote for McCain either.
I am sure he will not vote for Obama, but not voting for McCain when he usually votes Republican is the next best thing.

9. My M.I.L. called yesterday to say she is voting for........
OBAMA!!!

My mother-in-law lives in Florida. I think she is typical of that older generation that is/has been racist because that is how they were raised and if they never were forced to interact with anyone other than their own, well, that's what you get...

She was afraid to vote for a black man. I told her we as a nation have to get over racism and bigotry if we are to survive or thrive. I also said if anyone would thoroughly research both candidates objectively and still choose McCain, they are either racist, ignorant, or both. I think THAT is what challenged her to look further. I was shocked and delighted when I came home yesterday and my wife said her mom called and told her she was voting for Barack Obama. Racism can be beat. One person at a time is slow, I know, but I don't stand for it any more. Ignorance comes in all flavors and colors. Bigots need to be reminded of this. One small step for a man......
