McCain's Health Care Plan: Make it like the financial industry!

McCain on banking and health
http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/09/19/mccain-on-banking-and-health/

OK, a correspondent directs me to John McCain’s article, Better Health Care at Lower Cost for Every American http://www.contingencies.org/septoct08/mccain.pdf , in the Sept./Oct. issue of Contingencies http://www.contingencies.org/ , the magazine of the American Academy of Actuaries. You might want to be seated before reading this.

Here’s what McCain has to say about the wonders of market-based health reform:

Opening up the health insurance market to more vigorous nationwide competition, as we have done over the last decade in banking, would provide more choices of innovative products less burdened by the worst excesses of state-based regulation.

So McCain, who now poses as the scourge of Wall Street, was praising financial deregulation like 10 seconds ago — and promising that if we marketize health care, it will perform as well as the financial industry!

Yes. It was scary! I should have placed a warning on the link! Not as scary as his health care plan, but jolting nonetheless.

9. Well, nostril porn aside *shudder*, this is really good info. Damning info, for McCain's position
this minute; he could change his mind again. What ME? What?! Set your stop watch; he could change his mind any moment...

Again, thanks for posting. :hi:

5. I hate to do the "this needs to be an ad" thing, considering the Obama campaign certainly knows
about this, but this could make such a perfect ad after last weeks turbulence they can't possibly ignore it.

7. I read this in the Editorial or Discussion section. I'm disgusted.
I'm someone who's taking medicaid only because I'm a struggling student. He does this and he's fucking the lives of a good majority of the future who can't afford health care or have a job that supplies it.

The man is an ass.

11. More deregulation = more uninsured.
For those lucky enough to be in peak health and 20 years old, there would be larger deductibles and co-pays. What a stupid idea.

12. Bailing out large
corporations, that have destroyed the value of homes for those still in them and left pension funds empty is good management. Universal Health Care is "socialist"?

Long live the Republicans. You prove why, even on the coldest of days, living in the UK is not too bad.
