ROVE: Palin "Is Not The Most Qualified Candidate" & She Was A"Political Pick"
Rove Tells the Truth: Palin “Not the Most Qualified”
By: Lisa Derrick Thursday September 18, 2008 6:00 am

In a rare candid moment, Karl Rove admitted that Sarah Palin "is not the most qualified candidate" and that she was a "political pick." However, he added that he had no qualms about her ability to lead.

Speaking with the Associated Press after appearing at a health care conference in Orlando, Florida, the Republican puppeteer predicted, ""Nothing lasts for 60-some-odd days," Rove told The Associated Press. "Will she be the center of attention in the remaining 48 days? No, but she came on in a very powerful way and has given a sense of urgency to the McCain campaign that's pretty remarkable."

Maybe he'll disappear with Carly.

1. "has given a sense of urgency to the McCain campaign "
precisely

If anything ever demonstrated desperation, her selection is it.

15. Given a Sense of Urgency to DEFEATING the McCain Campaign
MY response to Palin was to give a big donation to Obama.

8. I agree
Rove would never be that negative unless there was either a positive to be had or maybe he's trying to sink McCain.

5. I caught a little bit of him on Fox after the Palin interview and I gotta tell ya
He was NOT his usual confident self... cocky yes.... but confident no. He was loud and cranky and his voice was up a couple of octaves (just like all the other Fox reporters).

6. I don't know how "candid" he wanted his comments to be.

I knows many folks take very seriously what he says and honestly, I don't think many Republicans want this win. There are just too many problems erupting in the world right now that could decimate the Repug party that much more with McCain and (Are you kidding me???) Palin in the White House.

9. Translation: Rove's no fool, and he knows McCain is gonna lose, bad
Edited on Thu Sep-18-08 08:47 AM by alcibiades_mystery
He is already starting to set up his distance from the McCain campaign so that the stench of the loss doesn't get on him. He was stung by the 2006 midterms, and he knows his claims of "having his own math" have become a laughing point in the political world. He essentially lost his job behind that, because I think he really tried to sell Bush that everything was hunky-dory - at least when it came to the Senate - and I think Bush was mad as hell that the Senate went Dem as well (it made him an utter lame duck for the last two years of his term). This time, Rove is going to avoid embarrassment and try to salvage his "genius" creds by "calling" a McCain loss early.

12. Yeah. I totally see this as Rove hedging his bets.
He'll still try like hell to get McCain in, but he's worried for his political life after this campaign. If he ends up looking like a TOTAL tool, he may not be able to get a job.

14. They hate McSame. They always have. Maybe they are setting
him up to lose. Maybe they're resigning themselves to the fact that he is a nutcase and unqualified. I hope it's not a set-up against our side. Frankly I cannot figure out what Rove is up to.
