Where Barack is spending his money...
From politicalwire.com =

Just out from the Wisconsin Advertising Project:

"Despite much talk about an expanded playing field, by and large, states receiving advertising in 2008 look similar to the states targeted in the 2004 presidential campaign. The Obama campaign aired ads in seventeen states from September 6-13, while the McCain campaign aired ads in fifteen of those same states."

"McCain and Obama are roughly even in spending in Colorado, Florida, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Obama is out-advertising McCain by nearly 3:2 in Missouri and by nearly 3:1 in Virginia. McCain has aired virtually no ads in Indiana, Montana and North Dakota. McCain's campaign is, however, out-advertising Obama by over 3:2 in Pennsylvania and over 2:1 in Iowa. McCain is also out-advertising Obama by a wide margin in Minnesota - a state where Obama has spent just $18,000."

Said project director Ken Goldstein: "Where the campaigns advertise tells us a great deal about the candidates' electoral strategies. Post-convention ad buys give us the first insights into the campaigns' assessments of where they think they are competitive as the fall campaign heats up."

1. Most interesting to me,
...is McCain's lack of spending in IN, ND, and MT.

2. Interesting, not sure I agree with some of Obama's choices though
Personally I think Missouri is a lost cause for him, North Carolina also seems very unlikely in my book, McCain has almost always held a lead there, often by a decent margin. I also think Obama should be spending some money in Minnesota, you can't let attacks on you go unanswered.

I can definitely tell here in PA that McCain has been outspending Obama, so that's no surprise to me. I mostly agree with his decision here, though that recent poll several days ago with PA being tied worries me a little bit, but Obama has generally held a slim to decent lead here all year long practically.

3. I agree with you about NC,
and to a lesser extent MO. I am adamant in my belief that some funds and grassroots efforts should be made in Montana and North Dakota. They're ready to rebel against the GOP, if we'd just help them out a bit.

4. Also for down ticket and building the party. We won't know opportunity until after debates.

6. In Montana and North Dakota alone...
Gov. Schweitzer, Sen. Baucus, Sen. Tester, Sen. Dorgan, Sen. Conrad, and Rep. Pomeroy should really be making a pitch on behalf of Obama/Biden. They're all well-liked and could be enough by themselves.

5. Hmmm. Interesting that they're saying spending is roughly equal
in Colorado. I would have thought that McCain was spending a lot more here based on the number of ads I've seen. McCain's certainly targeting the daytime market, I'll have to pay more attention to ads in prime time.

8. Ground game is big in some states.
But don't underestimate the power of televised advertising.

10. The Numbers are bullshit, I know for a fact McCain is not spending even close in florida
Obama has spent 39 million 6 already and the rest already paid for.

Thats almost HALF of McCains overall money in one state.

Not happening.
