During the Social Security privatization flap a few years ago, I had an exchange of emails with him on the Social Security solvency issue and he simply refused to acknowledge the facts and insisted on trumpeting the line that Social Security is going bankrupt.

From that point on, I knew he was either dishonest or stupid or both.

Listening to your comments, I am reminded of the distasteful Bill O'Reilly style of putting people on the defensive by constantly interrupting them and asking them a new question before they've had a chance to answer the last one. It makes for infuriatingly difficult to watch teevee and serves no useful purpose but to elict an occaisonal slip of the tongue of verbal mistake which can then be trumpted as new truth.
