I just can't imagine that many people don't care about the vast gap in policy between hillary and mc - even with moosalini thrown into the mix.

Its the same reality that sais a lot of black people will support Obama because he is black... not all, but a substantial amount.

Identity politics is a reality of American voters. I don't like that fact, but thats just how some people area.

She is a rabid republic and ran out to vote for hillary. If Hillary's supposed 18 million supporters would send her $2 apiece she would be out of debt. I don't think all her supporters were real Democrats.

The thing that people might not realize is how people supported Hillary just because of who she is.

It's not just a Dem/Repug thing. It's a Hillary thing :)

I believe that some people crossed party lines for her. That independents supported her.

At the end of the day, those people will have to decide if they supported Hillary because of her, or because of what she stood for. The people who supported her for what she stood for most likely will realize that Obama is alot closer in her ideals than McCain.
But the people who supported Hillary because she is Hillary - it's hard to say.

Hillary Clinton defintely has her own followers. Here's to hoping they join our cause in the end.

Because no one has done a good job of defining what they are. Not even the established women's organizations.

Palin is still just a shiny object for a lot of these women. Because she is a hocky mom and is being portrayed as a "small town all American girl" they think she has their best interest in mind. It is up to Obama's female surrogants, women's organizations, community organizers and Oprah and the View to start defining the gulf on the issues between the two and what it will mean to them. Joe Biden should also be doing this especially since he has done more for progressive women's issues than Palin ever will.

Once they start, the media will join in. And it depends on how they present their arguments as to whether that will be a positive or negative thing. It needs to be done in a respectful and matter-of-fact way so that those supporting Palin can change their minds on the issues alone and don't get their backs up because they feel like they are being judged for being ignorant about this gap.

The one thing that the campaign doesn't seem to get is that Palin supporters are not upset when you attack Palin because they love her, they are upset because they love her caricatured persona and they believe that when you attack Palin you are attacking who they are. If they show these woman that Palin is not who THEY are without petty attacks, they will change their mind.

Obama needs to focus on McCain.

The idea that Rush could actually convince a significant portion of the electorate to vote for Hillary in the primaries is absurd. Stop giving credence to this idea. We can't be in denial and coming up with "theories" for every poll.
