Is Barack spending his campaign cash wisely?
We all know he's raking in gobs of cash. Personally, this is most I have ever donated to any politician. So fellow Dems, does it seem like he's spending it wisely? With his numbers in the polls sagging, is he sitting on his huge pile of cash, waiting for the final weeks? What's the deal?

Also, the diamond crusted cigars were a gamble.

Edited on Thu Sep-11-08 09:24 PM by thecorrection
His campaign has created the largest grassroots voter reg drive this nation has seen. Forget the polls, we've registered 1 million+ voters.

Plus the polls don't mean shit, look at the Electoral vote count. We're ahead there and that's how you win the election.

I think that has been phenomenal. I guess my concern is television commercials. Again, at least here in the Denver media market, McCain's been airing a lot more than he has. I just know, for better or worse, commercials do matter.

Howerver, you need not worry, Senator Obama has managed his billions wisely and will continued to do so. You know, he has had to budget and manage more in campaign donations that Palin has had to manage in the budget of her under populated state.

30. It should be on your list.
Ask Senator Kerry about the importance of spending money. He chose a few targeted states like Colorado, and in those targeted states, Dems did well (the Salazar Bros.) even if he didn't win CO. If your state wasn't targeted, then Democrats had problems up and down the ballot in 2004.

33. Yes, as his campaign manager pointed out in an article...
With heavy advertising, you can move the election number one to two points.

By investing in a comprehensive voter recruitment organization, you can move the election numbers as much as five to six points.

Obama's investing in the bigger payoff. And those numbers don't show up in polls.

68. Here are other similar questions that could be met with suspicion:
'Where's Hillary"

"Where's Biden"

"Obama should have picked Hillary"

If these come from a member who hasn't donated, and/or has a low post count, and/or is relatively new, it's met with dark humor and sometimes outright anger because this is too important an election to let freepers or trolls come here and mess with our minds or stir shit.

Know what I mean?

58. Yes, very wisely
The one good thing the Obama campaign is doing is spending a lot of money in developing the ground game. That will not only help Obama get votes, it will help him raise money and help Democrats in general.

What he needs to figure out is how to dominate the MSM with positive news about his campaign, rather that all the b.s. that's around. His campaign so far has been a disappointment in that regard.

60. that's a fair question to ask, not that it will be treated fairly
on this website.

Considering that he outspent his opponent by two to one overall in the primaries and barely won, it is a legit question. Was the money being put to it's best use? I don't know. You would think with that kind of advantage he would have done better.

I understand he's putting a lot of money into registering new voters and get out the vote efforts... This sort of thing may not show up in the polling, so it's hard to judge how effective those efforts are until election day. We just have to believe in Barrack - we have to believe that he's doing the right thing and using his money wisely.

To put it in perspective (as you yourself deduced!), I'm in the interior Rocky Mountain west, where the ground game is not as obvious as the commercials during the local news. And being inundated with McCain's bullshit has me irked, so I just wanted to make sure our team was on top of things.

And Medicine Bow may have the internet, but Pony Express is still our primary modus operandi.

after all, not only did he win that primary race after coming out of nowhere, he won the primary money race and is contesting this election in many states we couldn't have dreamed of competing in previously.

this is partly due to wise money management.
