Paul Krugman just gave the sound-bite Edwards should have gave
"Yesterday Mr. Bush, who took a "winning the war on terror" bus tour just a few months ago, conceded that "I don't think you can win" the war on terror. But he hasn't changed the national security adviser, nor has he dismissed even one of the ideologues who got us into this no-win situation. Rather than concede that he made mistakes, he's sticking with people who will, if they get the chance, lead us into two, three, many quagmires."

This comes from a larger Op-Ed in the NYT, entitled "A No-win Situation."

It is very good and worth the read. Note how he is not necessary or mandatory that we buy into the neo-conservative propaganda of perpetual war on Terra in order to criticize the presidents remarks yesterday, call him on his flip flop, or expose his ineptitude.

You only get fired in this administration if you tell the truth instead of
lying - ie. don't say how many troops are really needed, don't say how much the Iraq War will really cost - if you do, then you're gone.

Incompetence - OK, that is our standard operating mode.

Tell the truth to the public - kiss your ass good-bye.

3. There are too many Americans
who still want to hear that we will win the war on terror in those words. Kerry needs some of those votes.

4. We...
...better hope the Kerry camp doesn't come out and claim they can win the WoT. This to me looks like another trap set by the Bush camp...la

I wonder how many actually read Krugman, he does such an outstanding job on everything he writes.
