Tide has been stemmed (Rasmussen daily)
For the third straight day, Rasmussen has the race at 46%-46%.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/general_election_match_up_history

The momentum McCain took out of his convention has flattened.

We now know the extent of the Palin effect.... it brought McCain up to even.

I believe that it is the high-water mark for McCain.

So does the "wisdom of crowds".

After falling behind McCain slightly the past few days, Obama is back on top - however slightly - in the rasmussen markets:

Who Will Win 2008 Presidential Election

Barack Obama
51.9

John McCain
50.0

Now.... here's the shocker, which makes me optimistic about Novemeber:

54% Say U.S. Has Changed for the Worse Since 9/11
24% Say U.S. Has Changed for the Better Since 9/11

And the money paragraph:

"Seventy-three percent (73%) of Democrats feel the change in America since September 11 has been for the worse compared to 33% of Republicans. By contrast, 41% of GOP voters think the change has been for the better versus just 10% of Democrats. Unaffiliated voters by a 51% to 23% margin believe the change has been for the worse."

The Independents are looking for an excuse to vote for us. Let's give it to them.

Obama needs to do EVERYTHING different! His bounce didn't hold! I am going to call everyone involved in this campaign and give them the benefit of my expertise!

4. How could they find 24% of people who say the US has changed for the better
since 9/01? I can't imagine anyone personally doing better, but let's assume there are such folk. Don't they feel any empathy for their fellow Americans who are struggling just to keep their homes or feed their families? Do these people live in a bubble and not in the real world? Don't they care about others? I just don't get it!

9. Don't count on it
My dad was a career FAA aviation security guy that got folded into TSA after all the post-911 bureaucratic reshuffling. He and most of his peers hated the change.

We are tied, where we were right before the conventions. Acutally, we are doing quite well if we are up in PA AND Ohio. Very very good.
