I just gave an Oscar performance to a neo-con and dammit,
Edited on Thu Sep-11-08 10:15 AM by monmouth
I want to be nominated for best actress evah!

Anyway, I've told y'all about my neocon neighbors who know I'm pretty knowledgeable about politics. These peeps are Fox watchers so immediately I'm way ahead of the game. Our patio furniture has been gone in prep for the hurricanes that never showed and today she was there waiting for me to "come and sit with me for a minute, I want your opinion on something." I avoided her a few days ago because I knew she would want to reinforce how correct she was about Obama being a Muslim 'cause he said so himself on the teevee. I didn't feel like dealing with her on that because I knew no matter what I said, he was being sarcastic and Georgy was being an ass, she'd never buy it. I already had groceries in my hand to prep for my dramatic exit.

Anyhoo, I was prepared today. I'll just do the dialogue.

HER: "Hey, I haven't seen you in ages, how've you been? Come, sit a minute, I want to ask your opinion on a couple of things."

ME: "Hi, how are you? What's up?"

HER: "What do you think of "our" Sarah?"

ME: "Who?"

HER: "You know, Sarah Palin, the Governor of Alaska."

ME: "Oh, you mean McCain's "girl?" She notices my slur. "Well, to tell you the truth I don't really think one way or the other about her, she's sort of a gimmick I think." As I begin to rise from the chair with aforesaid prop of groceries in my hand, I departed with "she's sort of a silly little thing, don't ya think?"

HER: Sputter, sputter, but, but

ME: "Gotta go, Haagen Daz is gonna melt. Take care now."

1. Good job!
I think an answer of "who" is perfect.

6. Bush has really left the GOP on a bridge to nowhere
One of my dad's neo-con friends met me while I was filling up.
We talked p(F)ailin for a while.
I mentioned that McCain was a pretty beat choice (dad's friend is a Ghouliani supporter). I mentioned that it was pretty sad that p(F)ailin was the best choice they had for veep.

We both agreed it knocked some wind out of Obama's inevitability.

But that is all that it did.

We both agreed on that too.

8. Nice! especially the gimick part
I've been calling her a publicity stunt, but I think gimick is more fitting.

Congrats, and don't let the music shut you down!

12. You did well! I didn't do so well on Sunday night,
now I'm getting total junk from my MIL and BIL.

They said "Did you see Palin's speech?" I said "Yes". She said "Well, what did you think? (she was excited and you could tell she thought it was great). I told her I saw most of their speeches and I thought the Republican party is taking the American public for fools, is playing to the uninformed voter which makes up a large part of the Repub base, has shown disrespect to the history of the United States and the importance of electoral process, and they are nothing more than this current adminstration has been for the last 8 years - a pack of liars."

Nah, it didn't go over well -- although I enjoyed it, and so did my daughter. I think my hubby could have crawled under the couch at that point.

Since then, we've been firing emails off to each other daily. I receive the "liberals are trash" chainmail stuff and I send them all the confirmed dirt I can find on McPalin OR debunk rumors they've been told about Obama.

One winner the other day - I debunked the chainmail using links and additional quotes from the same articles sourced in the chainmail message.

13. I notice that since I debunked and hit "reply to all" that those
e-mail are not coming so frequently. My uncle in NJ used to send me everyday the RW crapola, once I started debunking and "reply to all" it made him look foolish and he stopped. An old classmate did the same thing so I put a block on her. Won't hear from her again, ever.....
