Lakoff - Don't think of a Maverick
http://www.buzzflash.com/articles/contributors/1743

"Obama needs to be Obama again, the inspiring figure who gives us hope, not the dull policy wonk. He underestimated McCain's debating abilities, and needs to prep both externally by giving the press new questions to ask, and internally, by being precise and making his values clear. And he has to remember that voters vote on the basis of values, authenticity, communication, trust, and identity. If he is going to bring realities into the campaign, he has to do it via a strategy that includes all of those.

Natural charisma and brilliance are not enough. There's some hard work to be done."

1. I think he needs to return to speeches in front of large crowds.
The news coverage since the GOP convention shows McCain/Palin in front of large enthusiastic crowds and Obama in quieter, town hall settings. There is a definite contrast in the 15 or 30 second clips shown and comments that Obama looks "tired".

I agree with Lakoff (he's not wrong often). Return to what you do best Obama.

2. Are you kidding? I saw Obama on Letterman last night, and he looked fantastic.
Cool as a cucumber.

4. An Amazing Anthem For The Obama Campaign
Hi Friends and Fellow Democrats,

I recently came across this on Youtube.
Please watch this music video that couldn't be a better anthem endorsing Barack Obama.
I feel that it completely sums up our concerns and hopes for a brighter future.

Let's get it out there to help make the change!

Thank you for your time

Sincerely,

Darryl Smithburg

6. ~Sigh~ He got "wonky" because everyone was bitching about "specifics"
Specific = wonky

I agree with Lakoff. It's all on the record now (the specifics, that is). Now he can resume his regularly scheduled persona. Either way he's awesome, but he pulls more in with the inspirational messages.

Folks want fire in the belly. They say they want policies, but that's not what sends them to the polls.

8. "He (Obama) underestimated McCain's debating abilities...."??

Was there a "debate" between Obama and McSame that I'm not aware of? Is he referring to Saddleback? Was that a DEBATE? I thought it was basically a sit-down interview with each candidate separately. Were we supposed to be impressed by McSame's canned/scripted answers at that forum???
:wtf:

Oh, I'm sure McSame is going to be brilliantly dazzling during his debates with Obama. I'm so scared. Did Lakoff even watch his acceptance speech?
:sarcasm:
