John McCain never thought Bush would go through with the surge

I am 100% sure McCain was calling for more troops because he was sure we were on our way out of Iraq. He was always calling for more troops so he could use that once he started running for the nomination. Had we pulled out McCain wanted to say "If I had been in charge we would have done this and that and won." Then when Bush took up his idea I just know McCain was secretly saying FUCK! Because he expected it to fail just like most of the generals and the American people. So, then the fucker lucks out as ethnic cleansing diminishes the fighting and local leaders had already worked out deals and violence began to drop.

I am glad violence has dropped in Iraq but it blows my mind at how lucky McCain ended up being on this. No one will ever convince me that McCain really thought the surge would work. It was purely said for political reasons.
