'TROOPERGATE'
Warned by the Court

A judge repeatedly told Palin and family not to badmouth her sister's ex
By Mark Hosenball | Newsweek Web Exclusive
Sep 9, 2008 | Updated: 7:36 p.m. ET Sep 9, 2008

An Anchorage judge three years ago warned Sarah Palin and members of her family to stop "disparaging" the reputation of Alaska State Trooper Michael Wooten, who at the time was undergoing a bitter separation and divorce from Palin's sister Molly.

Allegations that Palin, her husband Todd, and at least one top gubernatorial aide continued to vilify Wooten—after Palin became Alaska's governor and pressured state police officials to take action against him—are at the center of "Troopergate," a political and ethical controversy which has embroiled Palin's administration and is currently the subject of an official inquiry by a special investigator hired by the state legislature.

(Court records obtained by NEWSWEEK show that during the course of divorce hearings three years ago, Judge John Suddock heard testimony from an official of the Alaska State Troopers' union about how Sarah Palin—then a private citizen—and members of her family, including her father and daughter, lodged up to a dozen complaints against Wooten with the state police. The union official told the judge that he had never before been asked to appear as a divorce-case witness, that the union believed family complaints against Wooten were "not job-related," and that Wooten was being "harassed" by Palin and other family members.

Court documents show that Judge Suddock was disturbed by the alleged attacks by Palin and her family members on Wooten's behavior and character. "Disparaging will not be tolerated—it is a form of child abuse," the judge told a settlement hearing in October 2005, according to typed notes of the proceedings. The judge added: "Relatives cannot disparage either. If occurs the parent needs to set boundaries for their relatives."

Edited on Tue Sep-09-08 11:30 PM by AtomicKitten
Obama is quietly supporting the union going after violations of law and leaving the soap opera stuff to the MSM.

25. I dunno
the more I think about it, the more I think she was created for this. The fact that she was giving interviews on national news outlets before the pick (never happens to Alaska politicians)is highly suspect. Craig Ferguson said he turned her down for an interview on his show (who the hell...why the hell would anyone push for that?). Her bullshit reformer image (right, not in oil soaked Alaska). The whole down syndrome baby thing (I know tons of folks up here, left and right, who never believed that kid was hers). It didn't help that she threw her daughter under the bus, either.

Sarah Palin is a marketing tool. The candidate of the future. Can you bring the American people to vote for someone, not just dumber than Bush, but with NO qualifications. N-O-N-E. Can you get the American people to vote for a purely symbolic candidate? Spooky shit, man. Really fucking spooky.

If all they needed was a figurehead they could have created people with more dignity than Bush or Palin. But they didn't.

I think they're dragging us through the gutter and they want us to know it.

62. The Baby Amphetamine of politics
I realise that's kind of an obscure reference, so allow me to explain. Baby Amphetamine were the result of a bet by some music industry bigwig that he could get a band on the front cover of British music weekly the New Musical Express without them ever releasing a single recording. The "band" was fronted by glamourpuss Dani Behr (later a TV presenter) and hyped to the gills. The guy won his bet.

8. They sought to distroy the father of the child
As the divorce case dragged on, the judge's concern about family "disparagement" appeared to deepen. In an order signed Jan. 31, 2006, which granted Palin's sister and Wooten a final divorce decree, Judge Suddock continued to express concern about attacks by Palin's family on Wooten. The judge even threatened to curb Palin's sister's child custody rights if family criticism of Wooten continued.

In monitoring how a joint-custody arrangement worked out, the judge said in his order that he would pay particular attention to problems noted by a "custody investigator," specifically "the disparagement of the father by the mother and her family members."

It has got to be very bad for the judge to go to these lengths

9. Palin's Strange Probe of a Trooper
Palin's Strange Probe of a Trooper
By Jason Leopold
September 9, 2008

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin – collaborating with her husband Todd and several senior aides – conducted what amounted to a rogue investigation into suspicions that her ex-brother-in-law was faking a job-related injury as a state trooper, according to state documents, law enforcement officials and former aides to Palin.

10. 2 for One
Notice on the McCain/Palin campaign circuit, Tawd, is right in their signing autographs, and pushing McCain to the side. If McCain/Palin win, what staff position will Tawd be given......and who takes care of the babies while the Palin's are proselytizing for Jesus????

I'm an old lady and memories go back as far as FDR and my first vote went to Ike. This GOP group is really, really scary and I know Ike would be taking McCain to the carpet for his support of the military and his selection for VP.

Just who would be leading our nation under a McCain Presidency. Picture Sarah and Tawd residing in the VP residence leading a ghost government.

58. The Palins were absolutely trashing this guy in front of his children--
and making a mockery of him in a small town. I can see why that would be considered emotional abuse of children--in a divorce and custody case, it's really bad to demonize a parent in front of the children who still love and depend on that parent. It's sick, actually.

Palin was an avowed young earth creationist in 1997, according to Philip Munger:

As the ceremony concluded, I bumped into her in a hall away from other people. I congratulated her on her victory, and took her aside to ask about her faith. Among other things, she declared that she was a young earth creationist, accepting both that the world was about 6,000-plus years old, and that humans and dinosaurs walked the earth at the same time. I asked how she felt about the second coming and the end times. She responded that she fully believed that the signs of Jesus returning soon "during MY lifetime," were obvious. "I can see that, maybe you can't - but it guides me every day."
