Billie Jean King: Not So Fast On My Palin Comment

After her admiring description of Sarah Palin blasted through the LGBT blogosphere today, Billie Jean King has issued a clarification.
"Last Friday, reporter from the New York Observer asked me what I thought about Sarah Palin. I told her I thought Sarah Palin was honest and real. I believe that. But, that in no way should be viewed as an endorsement of any kind. I oppose many of the positions of Sarah Palin, particularly those tied to the LGBT community. I am supporting Barack Obama and, in fact, I have lent my name to both Women for Obama and the Obama LGBT Steering and Policy Committee"

Whew!

That's not good enough. She needs to take back the "honest and real" part!

7. Whatever -- she is neither an idiot nor "old"
Billie Jean has been a longtime advocate and activisit for GLBT and women's rights. Female tennis players have her, in large part, to thank for the purses they now receive at tournaments.

Your insults are misplaced, and embarrassing -- to you.

10. Yes, I appreciate Ms. King a great deal,
and think she responded politely but without thinking in this case.

The OP is right, the "honest and real" needs to be retracted as well. Palin only looks that way at first glance.

11. Her LGBT advocacy aside, her comments were stupid -- or she is another low-information voter

If she's supposed to be for Obama, then she owes it to his campaign to be on top of the issues surrounding Palin.

"honest and real" = Palin => idiot

12. I was a competitive tennis player back in the day; she and Gladys Heldman
brought the big money to both women's AND men's tennis.

I was a ballgirl at a couple of her tournaments; I was in utter awe of her.

8. Agreed, but the facts about her lies haven't been "out there" long enough -
Kings statement may have been made based on her impression from Palin's one and only speech on the national stage...

9. You give these bastards an inch they take it
Billy Jean was trying to be nice and they took it and used it. They used her.

You can't play nice with republicans, not for one minute. They will bite you every time.

15. Sarah Palin is 'honest' about wanting women to bear their rapists' children and that
makes her 'real' scary.
