The media is screwing us
I spent all weekend thinking about this and I believe it came into focus for me. Sarah Palin was not a complete surprise of a pick. I listen to a local morning talk show which is relatively right leaning (I listen because a childhood friend of mine is one of the people on it) and they had been touting Palin for the last 2 months. Every time they had a national news person on (Fox News, ABC, Real Clear Politics, etc.) they would ask about Palin and got the same response: “There is no way that will happen. She is too much of a long shot.” Then the pick came and it was real clear that the media was caught with their pants down. I guarantee they had press packets on Lieberman, Pawlenty, Huckabee, Giuliani, and Romney but had nothing on Palin. Thus, there was a rush to show people that they did their job and the reason they had so little on her was because nobody (including McShame) knew anything about her. To demonstrate this, they highlighted every story they could get their hands on. This served to take serious issues like trooper-gate and lump them in with issues like Bristol’s pregnancy and a DUI from 20 years ago. I think all evidence has now shown that the sheeple think Palin is being unfairly treated and is working to McShame’s benefit. I am convinced once this all settles down, the people will focus on the real issues and realize what a neocon Palin. Thus, I am not concerned with the recent “bounce” we have seen. However, I hope the media gets their collective shit together and begins to focus on what is important this election.

1. Another whiny post about how "the media isn't acting the way I want it to act"...
nstead of whining about things you can't change, and discouraging other from actually doing work in the campaigns...

get down to your local campaign office and start registering voters, stuffing envelopes, calling people.

That is, IF you actually want to affect the election.

3. Agreed
I am excited that Obama opened a local office here (Nebraska) in the last week. There is a great chance Omaha could go blue and, since Nebraska splits their electoral votes, get a vote for Obama. While this means little in the national picture, every vote counts and, hopefully, shows Nebraska is starting to emerge from the stone age.

2. You can't expect the media to self correct. They take their cues from the candidates.
McCain is putting all his eggs in the media game. Obama has put more of his eggs in the ground game and less in the media game.

If Obama wants MSM coverage, he has to find a strategy, a message and he has to go out and get it.

10. Believe it or not - they also pay attention to viewer complaints
Take a few moments to write some emails to the usual suspects - LOTS of emails - not just once but once every couple of days. If these fucktards think they are in trouble with viewers they will have to do some mid-course correction. Remember the whole point of mass media in America is to deliver us (the audience) to the advertisers. If they lose audience share - they lose advertising revenues. With the economy heading down the tubes - no corporation can afford to have one of its units underperforming.

Let them know the left can be as PISSED at them as the right can be!

Time to work the referees.

5. Don't hold your breath on the collective media getting their shit together...
It ain't happenin'. They don't give a shit about the economy unless it's their own revenue at stake and more buzz means more money in their pockets. Remember, many of you who watch the media maybe poor but the media isn't ever going to be poor unless everyone stops bying their bullshit.
