An honest question about the "suggestions" here
Edited on Mon Sep-08-08 06:57 AM by Teaser
Out of curiousity, when you make a suggestion for a tactic or strategy for the Obama campaign, how confident are you that it will work?

Really, our biggest problem, and our largest weakness, has nothing to do with our strategies or tactics.

It has to do with three factors:

1) The fact that our opponents will tell bald-faced lies in order to win

2) In general, the media does not call our opponents on their lies (because of years of the right crying bias).

3) Voters have been programmed, somehow, to view our opponents as more "authentic" than us, when viewed as a brand
(Bush may be bad, but the Republican brand trumps the Democratic brand).
a)as a corollary to 3), when Repulicans are called on their lies, it does not damage the Republican brand because the cognitive dissonance of the event causes many voters to tune it out.

I think these points are indisputable. So, what can be done, in the face of them?

Because any and all suggestions we make have to deal with this reality.

1. Point three is disputable. The puke brand is a death keel.
Mcpow isn't even going to run as a "republican". He is running from it. Puke Senators and Congresscritters won't be listing their party affiliation as repub in ads.

The brand is in very bad shape.

2. I think that the "bush brand" is what is toxic

but for the moment, let's stipulate that what you say is true.

What to do, then, about 1 and 2?

Short of having our own media, that is?

4. Expose the lies in sensational ways that the media cannot ignore.
I think it needs to be a "All Hands on Deck", unified approach. Get at least 4 or 5 high ranking Dems to grab the cameras at the same time, hammering the same point. Either exposing the latest lie or attacking the opponents extremism, paired with an ad that hits so hard, in demands a response from the POW camp.

3. My Suggestion
Obama should immediately name HRC as his Sec of State. This will counter all the Palin hoopla, appease the HRC voters and also because she would make a great Sec of State and this would get her and Ol' Bill out there campaigning for Obama more because they'd feel like they have a stake in this thing.

6. Stop using Hillary as a campaigner
she sounded hollow and NOT enthused, almost pained at having to stump for Obama. Screw her
