we would be hearing about a lot of really nasty attack ads going out in battle ground states against McCain?

When things were tight there in the primaries, Obama and Clinton did get really nasty with each other. I know the myth is that Obama never went negative -no! not our saint of a man, but he did, he put out really tough fliers and ads attacking Clinton, because it was a tough, close fight and it was called for at the time if he wanted to win, he couldn't sit back and let her hit him, he hit back, jab for jab.

Obama is shrewd: He'll put the elbows out if he has to. But the fact that he hasn't put out a lot of really tough attack ads tells me that the campaigns internal numbers are looking good.

McCain could have picked a safe, comfortable candidate like Mittens or Huckabee, in fact, the Fundies would have loved to have Huckabee, but he didn't pick them -he went for the risky, attention grabbing pick -what does that tell you about what he sees in his campaign's internal polling?

P.S. McNumbnut's bounce in Gallup has already started to fizzle. But I don't really put stock in National Polls, we elect our president in the Electoral College where Obama is poised for a landslide...............
