Nationwide 42 million registered Dems, 31 million Republicans..
It's about getting out the vote. This is our election to win. The polls don't take into account registration and turnout. If we keep enthusiasm up, and unite to beat McCain and gain definitive control of Congress, we will. No doubt about it. We just need to stay strong and keep working hard. -WB

"Nationwide, there are about 42 million registered Democrats and about 31 million Republicans, according to statistics compiled by The Associated Press.

The Democrats have posted big gains in many competitive states, including Nevada, New Hampshire, Iowa, Colorado and Florida. They have also been targeting historically Republican southern states."

2. EXACTLY! And telling people door to door, call to call why our ticket is superior...
with personal anecdotes.

We simply have to get people to the polls. The big picture campaign folks know what they're doing.

9. many probably are lifelong
Republicans. They may be registered and agree with general GOP ideas, but still over 80 percent of the country isn't happy with the direction we're going in, that's something to tap into.

11. Indian reservations
are a key. I'm from a MT reservation and people are flat out excited about Obama. These states are sparsely populated, you get out the vote on Indian reservations and in a few college towns and things are looking up. Plus, in MT you have Dems Senator Max Baucus, practically an institution in the state, and the extremely popular governor, Brian Schweitzer, both up for election. They could carry Obama to a close win.

Also don't forget, the key word is "conservation." Lots of people who are naturally conservative in rural areas are in line with environmentalist ideas, they just don't like to be called that. But if you talk to people about conserving our beautiful country and preserving areas for hunting, fishing, ranching and farming etc, well then you start getting converts. That's the genius of guys like Schweitzer and MT's other Senator, Jon Tester. They are populists who know how to get people interested in protecting the environment by using language they understand and listen to.

6. Exactly. Those polls mean nothing.
To have an accurate poll, it must be weighted accurately. If you can't predict accurately how many people will go out and vote, the polls don't mean much. If the turnout is large, then there is going to be nothing to worry about.

10. I fret about the purging of voter roles. What happens if people find they've been knocked off?
Do they get provisionals?

In that case, Obama has to be ready to stand firm until they are all counted. And ready to call foul if any go missing.

19. As Dennis Kucinich says -- and it may or may not be true of you -- If you are worrying,
you aren't working. We've all got to get out and register as many people as possible so that we can still overwhelm the Pubbies at the polls even after the purges. Also, we've got to make sure there are lawyers inside every poll and Obama campaign people outside of every polling location to provide support to ANY voter who feels that they've been unjustifiably prevented from casting a ballot.

20. Think it is a state by state deadline
TX's is Oct 6th.
Between now and then there are blockwalks and voter registration drives every weekend around the state. If there are deputy registrars involved, people can be registered on the spot. Anyone over 18 can become "sworn in" as a deputy registrar for their county and can then go on to register voters anywhere/any time.
There is a huge 3 day registration drive scheduled at our city's balloon festival in a couple weeks---estimated expected attendence for the festival: 70,000 people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which is another reason why people need to STOP panicking over these daily polls. These blockwalks and drives are hitting a HUGE number of people..many of which are NOT targets of these polls.
