Why doesn't Obama smash Palin to bits?
Can't he just say she has taken lying to a new level--And then give the examples. I'm so tired of Democrats who won't get down in the mud where the game is being played.

22. I think it's coming...
I just watched 3 and change hours of cable news and all anybody talked about was that her reticence to answer questions makes her unvetted due to her absence of experience. If she remains so, then she's, by default position, assumed to be unqualified. That will be the baseline future-reporting of Palin will be founded upon.

The long knives are being unsheathed by the media...very soon it's going to be speak to the media on their terms or risk the 1000 small cuts of responsible journalism. The third estate has destroyed better individuals than Sarah Palin, waged war writ large against nobler figures.

34. I am going to keep saying it - BO is going to
stay as far away from her as he possibly can.

She is a complete and total trainwreck on pretty much all levels:

Undeniably unqualified.
Extreme positions.
VERY spotty track record for what little governance she has.
A lot of meaty ethical issus.
A LOT, A LOT of smoke around her personally.

And, she is a COMPLETE unknown, who is being sheltered. IMO, McCain just does not have enough time to clear all the garbage and then let her psuedo hockey mom reformer image take hold.

IMO, BO's best tact is to stay as clear as possible, let things unfold, so that there is a CLEAR disconnect between the reality and how McCain's camp is going to try to want to blame BOs camp for all baggage the moron brought to his ticket by bringing this freakshow on.

you'll note I said the media was going to get her...I don't think Obama wants to touch the topic of Palin with a 50 foot pole because he knows that she's goading the press to do it for him.

He gets to sit back and say nothing while the media cuts her down. His backlash against Palin is to remain above the fray.

Because they are scared to get in the mud. Palin has been throwing personal insults. How he sits back and ignores it is beyond me. My guess is he doesn't want to be seen as the 'Angry' Black Guy. We'll see if it works.

I want Democrats who fight, too, and don't make statements like this one from Ethan Berkowitz, Alaska's Democratic candidate for the House (Rahm Emanuel's candidate -- not mine -- in the primary).

Berkowitz Congratulates Governor Sarah Palin

ANCHORAGE, AK, AUGUST 29, 2008: Alaska Democratic Congressional nominee Ethan Berkowitz joins fellow Alaskans in congratulating Gov. Sarah Palin on having been selected as the Republican nominee for Vice President.

“This is an exciting day for Alaska,” said Berkowitz. “Governor Palin has made her name fighting corruption within her own party, and I was honored when she stepped across party lines and asked me to co-author her Ethics White Paper. I wish Governor Palin, her husband Todd, and their children, the best of luck as they embark on this journey.”

:puke: :puke: This makes me want to gag. I don't care if she is Alaska's governor, he doesn't need to fawn all over her like this.

13. Because his real opponent is McSAME and just going
after Palin makes it seems like he's running for the 2nd spot on the ticket instead of the 1st spot. Biden is the one who will take on Palin because they're the ones' running against each other. It lowers Obama to take on Palin in a head to head.

24. I have a couple speculative theories ...
(1) his campaign knows that the hype is too big to get on top of right now, and so won't start their public offensive until next week, possibly starting on the Sunday talk shows;
(2) tortoise and hare... he's not worried about Palin, seeing the hype as a blip and knowing that it will subside.

She only appeals to the fundies. She doesn't threaten Obama or Biden.

If Obama started sliding on the internal polls, they would swat her down a few notches.

When your opponent is hanging themselves, give them more rope.

27. You don't understand his strategy.
She can only keep attacking for so long. If he responds, it becomes a war of soundbites and people love that.

If she's the only one attacking, she burns out. So either she'll HAVE to go on talk shows and do real interviews, or people will get tired of it.

Meanwhile - he keeps slamming McCain (and her really, by extension), his real opponent.

31. Because it doesn't validate her "pitbull" "rock star" status
as proclaimed by herself and the MSM.

The MSM has everyone looking at McCain's new gimmick. And the media would love a mudfight. And neither Obama nor Hillary are going to give it to them.

Governor Mooseburgers has enough dirt that even if the MSM doesn't call her out on all of it, there's enough circulating in cyberspace and in print media to take the shine off the "Mom/Moose Hunter/Maverick" image they're trying to cultivate.

Obama and Biden's time is better spent focusing on the economic realities people are living firsthand. Let the blogs and the National Enquirer and the other pop mags do the work on the pitbull.

McCain, with his non-stop warmongering, his inability to even recognize the Katrina disaster, his flip-flopping on matters of choice, his willingness to let his daughter be smeared by Rove, and then cozying up to Rove a mere two years later.

Obama needs to smash McCain to bits.
