Does the city of St. Paul -- supposedly a democratic stronghold . . .
Have any idea how much it's going to cost when all those unlawfully detained and/or physically assaulted by their out-of-control cops sue the city and demand hideously expensive jury trials?

Can't police departments train their people to operate intelligently and lawfully to legitimately supress riots? Why do they always round everybody in a given area up when they have to know that the genuine troublemakers are going to be one out of ten or one out of twenty of the people they apprehend?

3. Thugs have $92M at hand
They should hold claim to those $92M from now until the end of Election.

Think abnout it - no videos, loss of interested backers for 527's and so forth..

4. No, they can't
Like all police departments, they recruit authoritarians, train them in fascist thuggery to fascist standards, overlook brutality and ridicule compassion in their recruits. Even in the most liberal of cities, police departments are a refuge for racist homophobes who are on a power trip with a badge and a gun. If some citizen group dares to challenge one of their members, they join up in lock step, first to cover up evidence of what happened and then to whine that they were just doing their job. The same type of response that concentration camp guards gave when they were taken to account at Nuremburg.

Until individual police officers are held accountable for violating human rights (which means they need to be trained to recognize human rights in the first place), you can expect this behavior to continue in St. Paul, San Francisco, and Boston, just like it does everywhere else in America, every day of the year.

5. of course they can train dudes to handle properly but last decade get away with this
and so many, even on this board back them up, even in the wrong. if they are never held accountable then they will not know where the line is. and with all the power they have and humans being as we are, of course they will continue to step over the line

so many people out of fear are too unwilling to stand up and be honest about the abuse

those in power and position to not allow also know their job is easier being abusive and fear in citizen to control them. as long as they get away with it they will take that route and integrity is out the window

we create
and we live

this is ours

6. If I'm correct, some of these events they bring in outside additional forces
I mean Minneapolis-St Paul is still a major metropolitian area that needs cops to do the regular everyday stuff too. Just because the convention is in town doesn't mean the everyday crooks decide to stay home for the week.

So I'm curious as to how many of these police were MSP police and how many were additional security brought in to help out with the convention.
